  1. BWI just gusted to 51 mph.
  2. Up in Pennsylvania, the cell near Gap is pushing 55,000 ft heights. Check out the base velocity!
  3. Yea that's 100% airmass, not sensor placement. +24 air at 850, and nearly +30 air at 925 will do that.
  4. Grant County, WV ASOS hit 100...and MRB hit 102. Quite impressive.
  5. Couple of cells trying to fire, but they are few and far between.
  6. +24 air at 850 showing up on the SPC mesoanalysis over the Blue Ridge. Truly an impressive airmass.
  7. Meh. Rates will help us overcome surface temps. Meso guidance is encouraging for some banding too. It's nowcasting time!
  8. Couple CWOP stations inside the beltway in Montgomery are in the low 100s. I think you're right, definitely a legit chance for you.
  9. Meso'd: https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md1653.html
  10. Not surprising that we have so many locations hitting 100 degrees. The latest SPC mesoanalysis has 850 temps of +22C and warming. Might explain the lack of a cu field.
  11. Per NWS: Baltimore (BWI) has tied its longest streak of days with temps of 101F+ at three (3) days -- previous occurrences 8/26-28/1948 & 7/19-21/1930 Washington DC (DCA) has tied its longest streak of days with temps of 101F+ at three (3) days -- previous occurrences 7/19-21/1930
  12. One more degree and the Baltimore City mesonet site becomes the first site to hit 100 in the (short) history of the network. https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=008MD&hours=72
  13. Even our mesonet sites, which are on grassy & open areas, are flirting with the century mark. This isn't a few poorly placed temp sensors. It's legit heat.
  14. 104 at Columbia and 101 at Patuxent RAWS.
  15. +30 at 925, +22 at 850. We cook.
  16. We've blown by the convective temp of 93 degrees per the 12z IAD balloon. Yet the cumulus field is just now struggling to bubble up. There has to be a cap or something.
  17. There appears to be a lack of a kicker, save a mesoscale boundary, and a mid level temperature inversion for today. The upside is that tomorrow's potential probably kicks up a notch if the instability isn't turned over today.
  18. +30 degree at at 925 descending off the mountains per the latest SPC mesoanalysis
  19. Even Site R ASOS up in PA is in the mid 90s.
  20. Even the APRS and mesonet sites near BWI are topping 100 degrees. This is clearly a hot airmass.
