  1. We won't even have the NAM or SREFs to cling to anymore. #EPIC https://owaq.noaa.gov/Programs/EPIC
  2. Gardened for most of the day Sunday and got Rue Rash....far worse than poison ivy. Blerg it burns and doctor has nothing for it except to let it run its course for about 10 days.
  3. No problem. Living in NW Baltimore County we also have the clay soil. Tilling in the stuff that I mentioned above (i edited the post to include a link) will go far. The best thing is that $40 gets you 8 bags even when it's not on sale.
  4. Two great, cheap sources of organic matter to loosen tough clay or shale soil are mushroom compost and leaf mold. You can buy them at a garden store and they come in 2 or 3 ft^3 bags for about $2.50 a bag. Purchase them in March and fork or till the material in. If you do this every year or every other year you'll notice that over the course of 2 to 3 years your soil will dramatically improve. EDIT: This is the leaf gro. Amazing stuff: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Leafgro-40-lb-Compost/3152593
  5. The old adage is, "One years seeds are three years weeds."
  6. Went to the Beaver Dam Swim club in Cockeysville yesterday. It's an old marble quarry and a damn shame you can't fish a small portion of it. Saw a school of about bass about 17" - 20" cruising one section. Tons of huge panfish too.
  7. Really excited for this heat coming up. It should yield some great evening bass fishing up in Carroll County. Anyone here try the Whopper Plopper? Looking at getting a few and trying them out this summer.

  9. Wonder if the MOD rainfall risk is more for antecedent conditions.
  10. MOD came after the 00z RAOB for IAD showed a pronounced EML and CAPE.
  11. The high SB CAPE on the SPC meso page is probably being shown due to a few stations with anomalously high Td, namely KMTN (Martin St Airport), KNHK (NAS Patuxent) and KNAK (Naval Academy). Their proximity to the water may be representative of the local conditions near the observation site but it's similar to how DCA can torch if the winds flip to the SW or back to the SE off the water. The ML CAPE values are more realistic, and even then might be a ~100 j/kg too high because they are incorporating the above stations.
  12. ^i'm in Maine that day...bank on a big event. Even possible legit MOD risk day.
  13. So, I guess we're getting a watch? https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/2019/md1115.html
