Warned storm headed right for @EastCoast NPZ. The activity just west of I-81 is about to enter the more unstable airmass and cross over some surface convergence as highlighted on the SPC meso analysis page. We will probably know in the next hour if the NAM/HRRR is right or on underestimating things...hopefully the latter.

The lightning shots in this thread are great. I've always loved lightning on still humid nights after a hot day. I swear that on humid days the light shows are more vivid...wonder if it's more CCN in the towers yielding better charges? Maybe @MN Transplant can shed some light on that?

I take the WPC heavy rainfall outlooks with a huge grain of salt, but hopefully it's right this time.

Just like the 2012 derecho...there was no airmass change (fropa) so the temps went right back up to the mid 70s to low 80s overnight.

Yea I can see them from Reisterstown...looks like they're getting some aid from the hills maybe? Couple of decent towers.

Annapolis (not a climo site but should be, IMO) hit 101.

FDK hit 99 so you're not off. On days like this valleys can just torch. Its why places like Hagerstown and Cumberland can get so warm early in the season.

Might be a slow collection of low level ozone and pollution.

If we can manage a westerly wind at DCA all day they should hit 100. 925 temps are +25 and the convective temp is 96 so there seems to be a bit more of a lid of things.
