  1. Really good call by LWX to up southern Maryland to a winter storm warning yesterday. It's unfortunately verified very well with all the ice...as of 8:30 am, ~12% of St. Mary's County is w/o power. https://mema.maryland.gov/Pages/Power-Outages-Data.aspx
  2. Sustained fine mist with occasional snowflake or IP falling in Reisterstown. 26/26
  3. Total skating rink in Reisterstown. 26/26.
  4. Freezing drizzle in Reisterstown at 27 degrees. Everything is quickly getting encased.
  5. Watch the activity on the back end turn everything into an ice palace tonight and we somehow trip into an ice storm.
  6. Time sensitive, but check out the Base Velocity on LWX radar. Near the radar site, you have inbound returns to the north of the site, indicating N/NE flow. But if you look at the returns over Hagerstown, it's outbound, indicating southerly flow aloft. Not something you see every day in these parts.
  7. Checking out my obs on the home weather station online, winds flipped to NE and temp dropped to 26. Looks like something trying to blossom on radar to our west?
  8. Welcome! How's the ice accretion down there?
  9. Ji melting down contributed to the expansive warm layer.
  10. Well this winter was fun. Time to dust off the ole' fishing rods and get ready for bass season.
  11. Amazing content on a free site.
  12. Yea the 5a - 7am timeframe in New Windsor was amazing. Big fluffy snow that just piled up.
  13. Correct METAR code would be IP+
  14. Meso'd: https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/2021/md0119.html
  15. It's all about the upper levels with this one. SPC meso analysis show 700mb temps are +1 to +2 so everything is melting. I'll still take this over the 50 and rain the GFS had for us early on Sunday.
  16. The sleet is bonding to the road surface more efficiently than snow. The ICC is having similar problems, especially on the bridges.
  17. This is some March 2007 level sleet. Wow.
  18. FYI, avoid I-270 folks...it's a mess.
  19. The roads with a few inches of sleet are definitely worse than any of the other snow events we've had this year. The cold air last night has helped the precipitation bond more efficiently to the road surfaces. Southbound I-270 from the Frederick County line to about the ICC has a lot of wrecks.
  20. Yup. If things were like 1 degree colder and just 10 to 20% wetter, we'd of won bigly every time. But compared last year and the year before that, this has been an okay winter.
  21. That event was insane. I was in Philly for that and got 4" of solid sleet after the day before was like 50 degrees. Took forever to melt off.
  22. Definitely learned my lessons that: 1.) Your location matters for climo (the further north or west you are the better) 2.) Always protect your lower end 3.) The mix line will always win
  23. Sounds like typical La Nina in these parts.
