Gaithersburg airport has the ceiling dropping and better returns overhead. Should be snowing within the hour across most of Montgomery County.

Yea it's picked up dramatically in New Windsor. Legit moderate snow. Everything getting covered now, even the roads getting slushy.

Last couple of radar frames starting to show a Washington/Frederick band setting up and the snow hole closing on the closer DC/Baltimore suburbs.

One thing is for sure, once it starts snowing it comes down with a thump. Everything but the roads starting to get covered and it only starting snowing in earnest about a half hour ago. Definitely some good dynamics aloft helping this thing.

For those of you tracking on radar at home, if you switch to the lowest scan on the Correlation Coefficient, once the values get over ~85%, it starts snowing a bit. By 90% it's full snow. There's definitely a dry layer though...it was mangled plates and needles for a good 40 minutes before the legit snow started.

Looks like that Hagerstown death band has some legs. Visibility down to 0.5 miles on the metar.
