  1. At peak, we average 4 dozen tomatoes a day. We've never had success of this magnitude. Raised bed gardening is all I'll ever do from now on.
  2. Zucchini done for the year. Tomatoes starting to fade. Time to get the fall planting prepped...looks like garlic and collards.
  3. I can relate. Grew up with no AC in a twin home in Philly.
  4. If you want excellent data visualization, check out Tomer Burg and Sam Lilo on Twitter.
  5. Season's over for us. We had Fred which turned out to be a bust. It's always something in these parts mucking things up.
  6. What an irresponsible tweet.
  7. Minimum $1 million per mile and, in areas that are already developed, you have to compete with other utilites and then trenching and ground each house. It's not going to happen on a large scale in this country.
  8. As someone who managed a utility company staging area post Hurricane Michael, it's better to overestimate power loss and have reserves ready to go than be short.
  9. Yup. Lots of early "storm cancel" posts here in this thread.
  10. Classic emergency management paradigm. You get a disaster, there's documented shortcomings in infrastructure then nothing changes when the next event occurs. But when the next event happens, the baseline infrastructure doesn't get improved yet supports more residences, businesses, etc.
  11. Looks like the 12z guidance starting to pick up on the rainfall potential.
  12. Oh to be a fly on the wall at OKX or BOX right now. Obviously a busy couple of days ahead for all of them.
  13. GFS catching onto the idea of an expanding wind field WRT Henri. Showing more interacting with the mid latitude trough over Mid Atlantic. At the least, looks like a breezy weekend and increased surf along the DE, MD, VA beaches.
  14. NHC extends area of Hurricane Watch for Northern Middlesex, Northern New Haven, Northern New London CT until further notice. NHC extends area of Tropical Storm Watch for Northern Fairfield until further notice.
  15. You can definitely tell the shear is relaxing on Henri. There's decent outflow across the northern semicircle of the cyclone.
  16. Looks like the 00z hurricane guidance shows no more OTS solutions. Man to be a fly on the wall at BOX or OKX right now.
