Yes. I learned this ironically at the ESRI conference in San Diego where a rep. from the ECMWF showed a data density map of observations and how there really isn't any ship or buoy data in the Atlantic. They were able to pull a lot of commercial aircraft data down because that's the only heads up they get about the mid latitude cyclones pushing into Europe.

IIRC, the euro relies pretty heavily on aircraft data because of the data void over the Atlantic Ocean.

IMO, big takeway from this winter is the Euro is not what it used to be. Not sure if there was an update that improved forecasting in another domain at the sacrifice of North America, but man it's been hot garbage this winter.

Yup. Forecast high was 49 for me...currently at 41.

UKMET is a winner for everyone. Would put a lot of us at climo at least.

I've been really happy with my Tempest weather station. About $300, and $10 for a homemade mounting kit. Really nice...highly recommend.

6/25 12z EPS are whiffs, 10/25 are double digit events, everything else appears to at least a plowable snowfall for BWI, DCA, and IAD.

Parts of the subforum could get snow on snow for the 2nd time this winter with this setup. Very nice.
