  1. I first heard JB say those words many, many years ago when he was a hot shot meteorologist on Weather World. For a long time he was a favorite until he got caught up in the hype game.
  2. One thing I want to say: Most if not all of us are here because we love snow. It's a shared passion of the chase, the euphoria that comes with the storm itself, and the exhaustion that follows thereafter. Most of us can relate to that in some way... At the same time, we're all very different. Some want early snow followed by early spring. Some want wall to wall winter. Some want many light to moderate snowfalls while others would exchange it all for a big crushing. Some love to watch it fall and some want to see it on the ground for weeks and weeks. No one is more right or more wrong than the next person. We all things that WE want...and that's okay. We can all respect what others want. Me? I want snow cover. I want it to stick around for a good long time. That means if I could choose between a 30" snowstorm or a 20" storm with a few hours of sleet on top...give me the latter please. Because...it will last. But that's me, your mileage will vary. Enjoy the ride guys...it's the only ride we have.
  3. I know what you're saying. I think...a lot of people are overly nervous and it's somewhat understandable. Last year the perfect pattern seemed to be in the 10-14 day range, and for weeks it never got any closer. So now this year it was looking like a good pattern was imminent and now some respected posters are saying it might be mid-January until things break our way. And given what happened last year... Winter is alive and well. I believe strongly we're going to have a solid season. I 100% do. Right now we need some patience and that can be kind of hard for some....
  4. My office friends reminded me of this yesterday. They know how much I love it when it's dark before 5pm.
  5. Daxx is right about March snow. Numbers don't lie. Bubbler, I agree with you in the sense that I'd much rather have snow now than in March IF I HAD THE CHOICE. I'll take snow any day, any time. But for pack preservation I want snow from mid December through the end of January. Again...that's if I can order it up.
  6. So many things to say... So, yeah. It sure looks like it's going to get cold out later tomorrow.
  7. My wife said our gauge was "just a little over 1.5"."That's about the best I can expect from her.
  8. That's pretty crazy. I didn't bother getting an exact measurement when I left for work at 5am but eyeballing the gauge was around 1.25". The Susquehanna in Marietta has come up 5' since last evening. Looks like MDT was significantly less than my location as well.
  9. Hopefully our little snooze is temporary and the light we're seeing at the end of the year isn't delayed into January.
  10. It's still raining and there's water everywhere. With so much focus on the snow prospects from round 1 and how much frozen we might get from round 2, I completely ignored the QPF projections overall. This was a very wet storm.
  11. Impressive rain event. Between .7 and .8" and rates are borderline heavy. Just picked up my daughter from work in Elizabethtown and didn't encounter any ice on any surface.
  12. All liquid here and plenty of it. Already over .25" with moderate rain currently. After falling below freezing earlier I'm back up to 32.8 now.
  13. I might have underestimated this round...already down to 31.6 as the rain increases.
  14. 34.4/28.2 here now. Don't think ice will be a significant issue here but we might drop just enough at the onset of the heavier precip to glaze up some elevated surfaces.
  15. I busted for a whole lot of us. On to the next one! (I don't expect any more snow down here from round #2)
  16. Perusing the radar it doesn't look like much of anything is going to happen for quite some time. I imagine when precip arrives it will be wet and not white.
  17. Yeah...true point there. I guess it's just getting burnt WAY too often in the past that led to my hesitation.
  18. Sooner or later...I got this feeling that we're going to be dancing in the wonderland...
