  1. Yesterday was the perfect early fall day. Today is the perfect November fall day.
  2. And that's the reason why I quoted him to begin with. This is the perfect fall day.
  3. Long-time Accu Weather met Elliott Abrams was fond of saying "No Sun...No Fun...No-vember." Today fits the bill!
  4. I don't keep exact records of such things, but I'm pretty confident my heat ran about 50 days last winter season. Typically it'll run in January and most of February, and then only in March during exceptionally cold and/or snowy weather.
  5. This is great stuff right here! A few years ago when I had our HVAC guy in for our yearly inspection he recommended that I adjust the setting from AUTO to RUN. So it's been running continuously since! To be completely honest...truly, I did turn off the air last Friday. At the time it was 67. That is my year-round setting. Disgruntled, I turned the AC back on earlier this week when it reached 74. My house is a hot box with many south and west-facing windows. The one thing that will cool down my home is a combination of cold, clouds AND a NW wind. It can be sub-freezing at night like it's been recently but if it gets to 50 or above with sun during the day, we bake. I do expect to shut it off tomorrow...though with sun and mid 50s by Sunday, she'll be humming again...
  6. Takes an anomalous pattern for the Piedmont to have an opportunity for snow this time of year, and the models are certainly suggesting just that...
  7. Certainly not a bust in my area yesterday...ended up with 2.55" which was ever so slightly above the 1.5" - 2.5" projections. Many fields in this area were lakes early this morning.
  8. I agree with you. I think the rain and wind are gonna be wicked this evening. Worst part is it's coming after dark. (for most of us)
  9. Oh my, there was a discussion in the lunch room this morning about municipalities postponing trick or treat night. There were 4 or 5 of us having a normal conversation when all of a sudden this dude just goes off and says "I'm so sick of hearing sh*t like this...all we're doing is growing up the next generation of p*ssies that can't get a little wet. What is wrong with our culture today?!??" So...yeah.
  10. I'm not sure how much lightning there will be but what do I know. Troll me hard if there is. This seems like a torrential downpour/high wind event and hopefully nothing else. (spin ups)
  11. Nothing like being under an ENH day 1 convective outlook to close out October.
  12. Yes, but the main show looks like it holds off until later tomorrow. SPC's Day 2 Outlook now has virtually our entire area in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms tomorrow as well.
  13. Looks like a period of very heavy rain inbound Thursday night. Probably well over 1" for just about all of us. Question is...when will it arrive? After the kids are done or not?
  14. Just got back from a walk along the river and it's really nice out...albeit a little too warm...
  15. Looks like a very nice week with lots of sun, decent temps and several hours of rain mixed in tomorrow. We take...for now.
  16. Amazing how many windy Wednesday night/Thursday mornings there have been over the years. It's been a long/running joke in our neighborhood while we're all outside bright and early on Thursdays exchanging cans and lids with each other.
