We talk about this issue a good bit in this thread - I'm a proponent that temps usually bust higher than advertised, and if it's been dry than even more so. I haven't looked at what models are saying mostly because I don't really want the bad news so I'm not sure what is being spit out right now. All I know is that it sounds like we won't get cheated on the heat next week.
In other words...you're going to be extremely lucky to see rain on either day. Showers are popping now over eastern PA, and unless something changes rather significantly, they're not getting anywhere close to either of you. (or me)
Seems like a frontal passage followed by a brief reprieve of lower temp and dews before the real heat kicks in. Not sure the entire 4th will be a wash but it could be active for a time.
It's also 5 days out - things could speed up or slow down. Or...it might not produce anything.
Probably right. June has been very interesting...I would characterize the month as having a lot of sunny days yet we've had measurable rainfall on more than half the days that I've been home. I know it was dry here while I was in NC but it's rained 5 days this past week.
What really surprises me is that both of you (especially Cashtown) live in a more favored area for storms than what I do. I've been extremely lucky and you've been extremely unlucky I guess...
Well I'm an idiot as usual - instead of letting things play out I called fail too quickly. Ended up getting a really nice shower here with nearly .25" in the bucket. 5 of the last 7 days has produced measurable rainfall.
'tis the season for hit and miss storms unless we get can some tropical action. My grass is still green and growing just as fast as the weeds. Hopefully areas that are drier than me can get some rain today before we dry out completely.
Yep, there are storms north and northeast where expected. My post was to say that our friends down south were expecting nothing and some of the DC burbs got raked as well.
Still looks like you might get some rain later if that stuff near Altoona pays a visit to Rouzerland.
Nothing but a few sprinkles down this way. Everything this morning was north as Bubbler said.
Not sure if the atmosphere recovers enough for storms later - our friend Canderson would shed better light on that.
I'll meet you in the middle at 84 here. Today is an interesting sort of day - out front I'm sheltered by the breeze and in the midday sun it felt uncomfortable. Walked into my backyard and with a nice west breeze it felt delightful.
It's just warm enough and just humid enough that without the breeze it feels a little stuffy.
There's been talk all week about severe on Saturday...Sunday kind of snuck up on us a little bit. But it does seem like Sunday could very well work out better, especially for those of us closer to the M/D line.
Looks like a stormy weekend with several threats centered around overnight/early tomorrow morning, late afternoon and evening Saturday, and then again on Sunday afternoon. Any storm can bring torrential downpours and damaging winds.
