  1. Lancaster will finish the January through March period as the 2nd warmest on record, trailing only the abysmal 1998 winter.
  2. @canderson I'm just getting caught up this morning - my best wishes to your family and the young lady that is infected. I'm reading a lot of horror stories about young, healthy people either dying or getting extremely ill from this virus. With every passing day I'm becoming increasingly concerned as it's only getting worse now and will continue to get worse for at least a few more weeks...
  3. I was thinking about that this morning - these past 2 systems really trended south in the final days leading into them. Couldn't buy that trend all winter.
  4. If these first 2 systems this week would have been snow events this place would be ugly right now. What was expected to be between 1.5 - 2" of rain here resulted in just under .4"
  5. It is...but we can no longer say that snow is the only underperformer in regards to precip. Monday's rain event left about half of what was modeled 48 hours out and today's event looks to be similar if not even a little less than half. Sunday's Euro depiction for rainfall in our area is in serious trouble unless it really ramps up this weekend. I'm convinced the only thing we do consistently well is overachieve on high temps. We got that down pat.
  6. Especially now, walking is good for the body, mind and soul. Add in a chicken sandwich and all is well. Relatively.
  7. Going to get out on the trail and enjoy a rare dry day this week. Fresh air is more than welcome so long as their is no one else around me...
  8. Nice area up there above Haneyville. I've made a few stops at Pat Reeder's in the past.
  9. I imagine up above Waterville on 44 north there's a couple of inches...maybe.
  10. I work with a diehard Caps fan - it was so much fun for so many years watching him get all cocky about how good his team was...until April. Last year he finally shut me up. (after 22 years of a lot of ribbing) Nice little band of snow moved through CPA this afternoon. @Wmsptwx probably got in on the action and didn't say anything. There was actually a special weather statement that extended down to JUST north of @Blizzard of 93 house.
  11. In the absence of live sporting events there are many classic games from the past airing these days...betcha have a pretty good chance at picking a winner from one of them.
  12. I wonder what will happen first...our next snowstorm or the eradication of this virus? I'm pessimistic about both.
  13. All public schools in the state of Virginia - closed for the remainder of the school year.
  14. Horst: (Did anyone see it?) In case you missed it, light snow was officially reported at Lancaster airport ~5:30am...a whimpering end to sad winter for snow lovers.
  15. I just want to add to this - there is a fine line between being negative and being realistic. I really hope this makes sense... People have been negative and given up repeatedly this "winter" season for good reason. We were in a horrid pattern for snow. We struggled to get snow in the heart of winter when even when we're in a hostile pattern we often get SOMETHING...but this winter lady luck was missing. Now, if the pattern was ripe for snow and there was very good reasoning to believe it was going to snow based on the pattern, then dismissing snow chances would be not only negative but also stupid. But... That's not what was happening in this thread this winter. People were being realistic - a point that I, and others tried to make over and over again. I'll be honest...when the pattern is as godawful as it's been, I don't give a flying you know what any snow map looks like. Reason why? Well, the ground truth spoke volumes to that. It sort of upset me this winter when I was one that was being labeled as negative. If calling things the way that they really are is being negative, then so be it. But just as someone is foolish for dismissing something in a good pattern, it's just as foolish to keep expecting snow when the pattern is putrid. And now we're in a season where we (S/E of the mountains) need some luck to score. We need something better than what we have now. Bottom line - it's frustrating when you're surrounded by negativity. It kills morale and is generally unhealthy. But negative is NOT always the same as being realistic. And what I saw in this thread this winter was a whole lot of realism. At least from the "negative" people. Let's all keep a good thing going here and work to understand that we're all different but still share the same love. From that we might diverge but that's okay...we can all respect each other and "treat" others respectfully. - MIke
  16. A lawn and garden thread sounds nice. The mid-Atlantic thread has had one for years.
  17. I posted a few times actually. I gave it about as much attention as I honestly felt it warranted. (For our local area) I did say a few days ago in response to a post that Williamsport made that I thought areas in the northern mountains might very well receive a nice snowfall. I am NOT disparaging you or discouraging you from chasing. But please don't get upset at others who aren't.
  18. 3/21 - First yard mowing of the season commences now. Holy crap, i feel like the grass grew 6" in the past 2 days!
  19. I was just going to post the same thing. At least a few inches verbatim.
  20. Welcome to the club! Mine hasn't shut off much today...
  21. 80.4 here. Imagine if we would have had more sun - I never saw any until after 2pm. And yes, Lancaster officially hit 80 as well. This has "felt" like an over-performing kind of day all week to me. Screw the models. (not really)
