  1. I didn't get this far into it, but Cashtown comes out the winner with 27" of snow from 1.28" of total QPF.
  2. My 5,000 post: (this is how we start a winter's day in these parts) This is all in fun...please. I love to make fun of myself as much as I do anyone else. Please don't be offended. 12:01am: Blizzard of '93 posts the Ukie model showing a monster low with 25 different millimeter contours over the eastern US at hour 48. I think to myself, I guess those colors in our area look good? 12:03am: Williamsport points out that the Ukie actually moved further off the coast this run lol 1:15am: MAG says that the Euro buries the eastern half of PA. 1:17am: Williamsport points out that the Euro actually shifted 2.5 miles further east this run lol 1:18am: Blizzard of '93 excitedly posts a snow map - it's actually a snow map for a storm that's still 10 days out. 1:19am: Canderson boldly says that MDT will receive less than 4" because he's traveling to NYC in 2 days. 3:00am: MAG shows a super-juiced map of the latest NAM. Carlisle is under a 4" bullseye for total QPF. 5:30am: Pawatch wakes up and posts that he actually had 1" of snow overnight. Where is Garden View, anyway? 6:01am: Sauss reports his fridge is stocked, and he froze his azz off this morning. He asks Canderson if it's windy across the river. 6:10am: Canderson quotes Sauss and says he's not sure, he has no trees left to blow over. 6:13am: Bubbler reports that the GFS is wide right, and barely gets any precip into PA 6:14am: Williamsport says "yeah, this one wasn't for us guys lol" 6:15am: Itstrainingtime wishes that Horst hadn't retired 6:36am: Anduril says that traffic was bad in Camp Hill on his way to work, and there were Penn Dot drivers sitting on the shoulder of the Capital Beltway. I find this odd given that any storm is still 36 hours away 6:42am: Nut says that we'all are in for a good dumpin' except for our friggin' friend up in Williamsport. He says he wishes this would get us all...even though he really doesn't care if it snows in Williamsport or not 6:50am: Anotherman questions why there's a sharp cutoff in snow amounts over York and Lancaster. I start preparing my Horst "it's going to change over in our area" speech 7:01am: Superstorm says that Lancaster needs to watch out for mixing. I nod my head at my screen approvingly. 7:08am: Williamsport says that Pine Creek won't freeze over this winter because there's no water left to freeze lol 7:22am: Bubbler reports that it's 34 with a 36 mph wind in Rouzerville. In Maytown, it's 12 degrees with calm winds 7:24am: Paweather quotes Bubbler...at this point, I'm confused...is this Paweather 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5? 7:34am: Daxx comes back and says that he'd want to be in Tamaqua for this storm. Thinks that areas S&E of Harrisburg will changeover 7:37am: Voyageur quotes daxx and shows him the latest Turkish model which shows a split right over Tamaqua 7:38am: Williamsport says "hey MAG, any chance of squalls from the arctic front in 6 days?" MAG doesn't respond 7:45am: Eskimo Joe says "Next" 7:58am: I make a prediction that many areas get far less snow than modeled due to mixing 8:01am: Blizzard of '93 chastises the yours truly and says that he'll rely on the NWS for his forecast 8:04am: Blizzard of '93 lashes out at CTP for not hoisting Winter Storm Watches yet... And on we roll
  3. Thank God we're back to talking weather and not that f'ing football team from Irving, TX... I HATE the Eagles. That said, I thought it was hilarious when Buddy Ryan used to run it up on the 'Boys back in the day. I remember the $500 bounty he put on Aikman...good times.
  4. Sunday: Canderson: 90 Bubbler: 88 Maytown: 66 (sitting inside looking out the window waiting for a cold front)
  5. I "only" reached 82 - fully expected to be blown away by Canderson, but what's up with Bubbler blowin' right on by me?
  6. Point and click for Sunday is 84 - sounds like an 88 coming from downtown Harrisburg...
  7. Totally agree. Huge variations in rainfall even here in Lancaster. I just added up my totals for the date period of that graphic and I'm at 9.2". I'm running over 5" behind what Lancaster has had.
  8. 68 here just after 9AM - I think I'm in line for your 85 degree prediction from yesterday. It's warm already... That graphic is somewhat misleading for the trainingtime dude here in the historic district. Being in NW Lanco just 15 miles from MDT, I'm closer to the orange shading than you think. Superstorm is the guy you want to chase down first. That big fat 14.5 sits over his backyard. :)
  9. Factual information... I want it to rain. It can rain any day except for Saturday. Like..any other day... It's going to rain on Saturday.
  10. Thanks for that - I didn't live in the historic district back then, I was more or less in the central part of Lanco. My records show 20" which is about 8" below my long term average. The 70s and 80s featured a lot more of snow>ice>rain storms, and there were many times when the Harrisburg area doubled what we got down this way.
  11. One of the top 2 weeks of winter I've experienced. I don't recall offhand what we ended up with for the season, but I measured 43" over 6 days in early January.
  12. There was a big storm (24") in February of 83, but the winter of 83-84 was not a good one based off memory and my records. This is based as much on recollection as it is on facts, but I believe that generally speaking, abnormally cold or abnormally early season snowfall is NOT a harbinger for a good winter to follow...
  13. That's very impressive. I don't recall cold of this magnitude this early since I think it was 1983? That year I had a couple of frosts in September which came on the heels of getting down to the low 40s in late August. 37 and frostless here this morning. There has been some scattered frost the past 2 mornings around Lanco but nothing here as of yet.
  14. No frost advisory for me. That must be why my AC is currently running.
  15. Nice article on Lancaster Online today about Horst's retirement. Lancaster area people are going to miss him tremendously prior to and during winter weather events.
  16. Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park. Though, if you can only go on a weekend it will be very crowded. Delaware Water Gap up near Stroudsburg is great too.
  17. My point and click for today is Mostly Sunny. The next 6 days are Sunny every day. Beautiful weather for sure - just wonder when it might rain again...
  18. All of my trips (approx. 20) have been to central FL and north and east of there. Many trips to Cocoa Beach and JAX. I often wondered what it was like in the panhandle.
  19. If it's snow, at least you'll be able to visit FL and enjoy it if you can't back up here.
  20. They got a lot of rain - and a heckuva lot more than you've gotten in many months. It's going to all even out this winter.
