  1. Just started here! Went from virga to legit -SN in about a minute.
  2. Poster in our thread (Central PA) is reporting -SN in midtown Harrisburg now. I'm about 20 miles SE of Harrisburg, nothing here yet, though the ceiling has noticeably lowered over the past 20 minutes. A few flakes here now. I'm about 5 miles north of Rt. 30 right on the Susquehanna on the Lancaster county side.
  3. As someone on here said yesterday, the Steelers were the worst 11-0 team ever. I follow them VERY closely, and while their defense might be very good, this is in no way a dominant team. I think @CAPE is correct here - a good team for sure, but I'm not convinced they do much of anything come postseason. They don't run exceptionally well, their receivers drop a ton of passes, they're still susceptible to dumb penalties, and they have a QB situation where if Ben gets hurt, they're done. And he's not the most durable guy behind center anymore. Much credit to Washington - it was fun watching their D fly around yesterday. If I was a Washington fan I'd have more hope than I've had for many years.
  4. A lot of the fun can be the chase itself, especially with the right attitude and understanding going in. Patience, and chances... Man, I lit up when I saw that you posted. Welcome back my friend! I like your thought and call.
  5. We've (LSV specific) have been spoiled rotten since 2003 with big daddy snowstorms. After suffering from the '83 blizzard pretty much up until the '93 winter, the past year or two while frustrating, does not compare to that stretch. Patience...
  6. Yes. In March, the last thing I want is a coating - that is big game season for me. Right now, on December 8th, I'd love to see snow. Any amount is fine and gladly appreciated!
  7. I thought you said Leesburg, which is in northern Virginia. When I read that post my first thought was that you were spot on. I think a comparison to that general area is good...notsomuch southern VA.
  8. .64" in the bucket thus far - should end up fairly close to 1" for the event.
  9. Ji is off-putting to a LOT of people on here, and I totally respect those that feel that way. Personally, I think he's the funniest negative person on the board. His act does grow a bit weary to me only in that he actually knows a lot - I listen to what he says because honestly...he's often right.
  10. A light wintry mix of rain and sleet continues here. 42 degrees.
  11. @ChalkHillSnowNut: I know you've been here in our thread some lately, how much snow did you end up with earlier this week? Congratulations on whatever amount you got!
  12. I think that sums this situation up perfectly, agree with every word of this. I bolded the section that resonates best with me, and that is why we've been talking about patience. We're still early in the hunt, and for those of us in the lowlands to get snow, we need moisture AND a well timed, fresh cold airmass. The cold of the past few days is moderating and moving out. It's not nearly enough for this weekend.
  13. I took a chance with that one - I was a huge fan of him at PSU. I know he rubs some the wrong way with his homerun swing after throwing a TD pass, but the guy is a winner. All you have to do is look what's happened since he left Happy Valley to appreciate the impact he had on the program. Very happy he got a chance to play the last 2 series today.
  14. Speaking of Trace, McSorley with his first NFL TD pass today.
  15. Red zone defense is keeping them in the game. Steelers with 6 points on 3 trips instead the 10 yard line.
  16. Maybe this is finally the western part of PA's long-awaited winter?
  17. Nothing here at home. Friend in northern York county had a cartopper.
  18. Just realized that I'm under a slight risk for severe this afternoon. In the meantime, a large area of moderate to heavy rain is moving in from the south now.
  19. You my friend, of everyone in here, should be able to stake the claim of having the first yard to be obscured by snow. I'm glad I was able to help you see your long-term omission. When I was younger (okay, even today) I always thought it wasn't a real snow until the grass disappeared. For my yard, that's usually about 2". Another rule of thumb for my area, when a storm goes west of my location I can probably count on one hand the number of times I held on to snow long enough to eclipse 2". Just doesn't happen no matter what the models say unless there is some really significant CAD, AND the airmass is exceptionally dry going in.
  20. If I remember correctly I had 53 consecutive days with snow cover. Nothing even close to that since. That winter was special.
  21. I feel like a true snow weenie looks for competitive advantages when it comes to creating the perfect winter landscape. Being the first to have the yard disappear is step #1. The other thing that I did, and something that Daxx does, was to prohibit the kids from playing in the backyard when they were younger. A good bit of my yard is shaded, and to help preserve the perfect snowpack, I didn't want my snow trampled, rolled, scooped, etc. An untouched yard was essential! Shoveling snow into 2 huge piles is another tradition - I consistently have the last piles of snow to melt in the 'hood. Admittedly, it's getting harder for me to stack it up at the age of 55. And of course, I'm always a fan of getting a nice layer of sleet on top of my snowpack. It's the best way to achieve pack preservation.
  22. Oh, you can laugh away! I've had the same neighbor since I bought my house 20 some years ago, and he knows the drill. He asked me a couple of days ago when the annual snow mow was taking place...
  23. Just finished my annual "snow mow" - anyone else do this? I cut my yard extra short heading into winter so that my yard is the first in the neighborhood to be completely covered by snow. (no grass showing) It does wonders for my soul.
  24. That's what I've been thinking. I know there was talk about later this upcoming week, I thought for our area it was too rushed. Patience...
