Time for my single Horst post for the upcoming snowstorm...I mean tropical system. He's calling for 2.5 - 5" of rain in Lancaster with 15-25 mph winds. Of real note, and the main purpose of this post, he shared some numbers for the month of July: 23 days of 90+ temperatures (new record, previous record was 21 days in 1955) New record average temperature for the month And the most fascinating thing to me - NO daily temperature records were broken. In fact, while we had a record number of 90 degree days, the record is largely due to the anomalously warm overnight lows.

According to CTP there was nearly 4" west of Lebanon to my NE.

Final tally in the bucket was 2.48". Saw a report of 3"+ between Elizabethtown and Palmyra.

Storm after storm after storm...might say that it's been training time for me tonight. Gauge is at 2.16" and it is raining harder than at any point.

I might end up with more rain tonight than from the tropical system. It's been a soggy evening and there's an even heavier cell heading towards me.

As you know, it will likely change, and change a lot. Since the first rain event that was set to begin last night, I've had a grand total of 0.00"

The 1PM hourly update at MDT showed a temp of 81 after a morning low of 73. This is officially the warmest July on record in Harrisburg!

Cannot imagine not running the AC today. 81 here as well. Feels gross out.

Yes, I saw that. It seemed odds slightly favored a close whiff...if memory serves correctly a lot of tropical cyclones end up east of what was modeled as they get closer to our latitude. Even at the DE/MD beaches their have been evacuations over the years anticipating a significant impact only to see the storm venture a little further offshore. This book has more chapters to go so we'll see if the pattern allows the storm to tug inland a bit.

Radar was deceptive because it looked like you did better than that.

Pretty incredible how the area of 2"+ curves around you and Cashtown...crazy. I've been holding steady at 93 for 2 hours. Interesting to see what you reach.

Got the bad, but expected news the other day...no trips to Heinz Field this fall.

There were 7-8" amounts on yesterday's map right up to the M/D line. The Delmarva region lost a couple of inches since the last map was issued.

I've been quietly thinking about that for some time now - one extreme to the other.

He's the real deal at the dish. It's fun to watch... What isn't fun is that the 'Bombers have picked up right where they left off last year. I've never seen a pitching staff give up gopher balls like we do against NY.

If we ever are fortunate enough to see another storm of that magnitude, 2 things will certainly happen: Canderson will at least once announce that Harrisburg won't receive more than 4" Wmsptwx will tell us every freakin' time any model that shows the storm missing anyone north of the M/D
