  1. James Spann - has his house get destroyed, takes a break to regroup, comes back on the air to continue working on saving other's lives. Guy is 100% legit hero.
  2. Thanks - again, my memory is good enough to remember these things but failing enough to not remember when they happened.
  3. There was an Easter in the 1980s when the high reached 96. I hated it...funny thing is, I remember it because it was extreme...
  4. Took some time off work for next week so my wife and I csn spend a couple of nice spring days in Rehoboth - meaning, this greatly increases the odds that snow is coming. LOL We're going Thursday and Friday.
  5. Sounds like at least 5 dead in Alabama today - really hope that isn't any (or many) more than that. Still violent weather ongoing across the mid-south down into Alabama.
  6. A lot of people that know a lot about severe weather seem really concerned for what's about to transpire...
  7. 1.18" in the bucket. Did not see this coming, but I'll gladly take. Had to be a sharp cut off west of 81/83 judging by radar trends today.
  8. 4/6/1982 - I had a high of 29 with nearly 9" of windblown snow. Coldest day in April I've experienced...by a good bit.
  9. Today would have been a forum divider if it was snowing...looks like many areas in the SE part of this sub get close to if not over 1" of rain while far west areas see a tenth of an inch or two. Pouring rain here again.
  10. It took all of 5 minutes after I made that post before the floodgates opened and it POURED. Oops. And yes...I'm watching that blob over the Baltimore area that is on a trajectory to dump on us if it holds together...
  11. I try my best not to be critical of models, but this is why I questioned @Bubbler86 the other day about if any other model was showing our area going into the deep freeze in early April - the GFS to me seems to be REALLY lost these days...(at least the previous version)
  12. Interestingly enough, current radar shows 2 large areas of rain advancing NE - one is missing us to our NW, the other is passing off to our east. Sort of a little dry tongue that might keep the more significant rain away from us, at least for the next few hours. It's a rather small gap between the bands...but it seems like you and I are poised to maximize the gap. Regardless, @canderson is going to exceed .1" today.
  13. Haven't looked at models much at all for the past 2-3 weeks - is the GFS on an island with that depiction?
  14. A chilly 29 to start off the work week. It's that time of year - opening up the site this morning and seeing that the last posts in subs happened up to 10 hours ago tells you everything you need to know without going any further.
  15. 65 beautiful degrees this afternoon. Absolutely a perfect Sunday!
  16. I haven't checked my station once today, but I just returned from a walk in a tee shirt and was perfectly comfortable. It's gorgeous out!
  17. It's been a frustrating journey. So many poor decisions, horrible draft picks, bad trades, etc. They are fun to watch now, Rivers seems to have them gelling as a team. Only title they've won in my lifetime was 1983. Won it in LA the very night I graduated from high achool. All 3 of my favorite teams won in 1983...PSU football, the Sixers, and then the Orioles in the fall. Only PSU won a title since. (1986) Though they should have been at least co-champions with Nebraska in 1994...
  18. We were doomed when 2 of the biggest naysayers became yay-sayers. (you and Williamsport)
  19. Speaking of nasty, welcome to today. Cold and windy on March 19th with not a hint of wintry weather. If it's not going to snow, I'm ready to move on from this.
  20. I'm in between the two of you - first and foremost, I want snow cover to stick around. And if we had multiple minor events that continuously builds or refreshes the pack, sign me up. However, that's not usually how we roll, as you know. So knowing that regardless how much snow falls that it's going to melt fairly quickly, nothing beats the thrill of chasing down a beast. 93-94 was special and might not be duplicated anytime soon.
  21. The "Bomb Cyclone" (January 2018?) brought blizzard conditions to the beach communities...I don't remember how far west accumulating snow got from that.
  22. 12/26/2010 is one that comes to mind. (as much as I try to forget this )
  23. Paul Knight - honestly, my favorite met ever. I remember on Wednesday, January 3rd 1996 that there was talk about a large, powerful snowstorm that was going to affect the southern mid Atlantic region over the upcoming weekend. I know that all of my local forecasts were for a dry, very cold weekend at that point. On that evening's Weather World, Paul said that he felt confident that this large storm would bring heavy snows to at least the southern portions of PA. I have no idea what models were depicting, I just know that every forecast was for the storm to miss south of our area. Except Paul's forecast. He was the first to sound the alarm...and he was remarkably calm and confident that it was going to happen... 5 days later, I started the task of shoveling out from under 30.5" of Paul's heavy snow he forecasted. He was, and is, the most accurate, non-hype forecaster I've seen and/or heard in PA. That was probably his most memorable "win."
