  1. And yet again, we had the exact same high temps. Seriously, it happens almost every day.
  2. Same story, different year. This team is one injury away to #7 from being truly awful instead of just mediocre.
  3. I reached 92 today as well. Great info on the tornado outbreak on 7/29. It was quite a day across the Commonwealth...of course, nothing like 5/31/1985. I have such vivid memories of that day watching the killer twisters in western and central PA and wondering if we were going to get in on the action here in the LSV. Fortunately, we did not.
  4. I found this from the World Meteorological Organization: (this is more in line with your idea) No formal, standardized definition of a heat wave exists. The World Meteorological Organization defines it as five or more consecutive days during which the daily maximum temperature surpasses the average maximum temperature by 5 °C (9 °F) or more. Some countries have adopted their own standards.
  5. "Official" designation is what - 3 consecutive days above 90? I agree with your thought process...reaching 90 has become almost routine. (save for a few cooler stretches like we've enjoyed this summer) but still...many days at or above 90 this year.
  6. Point and click for this afternoon is 87 - currently 92...
  7. 87 here at 12:45pm - honestly surprised it's not a couple of degrees higher. Not complaining.
  8. I could feel the difference as soon as I walked outside this morning - it's going to be a hot afternoon. Dews are headed up with the temp.
  9. We were on the river trail this evening and I'm pretty sure that I saw every breed of dog represented.
  10. Yawn. I was outside all evening enjoying myself. 89/56 here today. You know, me and @mahantango#1are usually almost identical on high temps every day. Lows are a different story.
  11. Yep. Bring it on. Up to 89 here, 6 degrees above the projected high. I've had many days in the 5-7 degree range above predictions.
  12. Humidity is still tolerable today, which is a good thing...it's up to 87 here already. Well above the projected high, and it's going to be a close call to 90.
  13. The only time I will root for the Phillies is... (I can't stretch this to never)
  14. 82 here now - I think the projected high of 83 will fall short once again.
  15. Haha, yeah, well I won't let my wife see your post. That's in part why I invested in the weather station.(s) All I need to do is spit out what the numbers are. No more guess work. Speaking of the station, it's 74.8 here as I post this.
  16. Agree 100%. In the past, it would take a week or 2 to fill a single page in this thread. If someone new comes in, that doesn't present a very friendly environment to start posting if they feel like the members don't even post much at all.
  17. I don't pay much attention to LNS either, but it's nice to know that we had the same readings. Sometimes I question my station when I see that almost everyone else on here is several degrees cooler at night. I'm not really in an urban area that I'd expect to run warmer. I know that @Mount Joy Snowman should be a little cooler at night, he's in a more conducive area to radiate out well.
  18. Interesting...that's a pretty big discrepancy for sure. I guess there's more to it than I thought. I just don't pay attention much to MDT.
  19. Enjoy! I admittedly haven't watched a single minute, and as you know, I'm a fairly big hoops fan. I just can't get into it. I've got other things to keep me busy, like watching the Orioles lose some more games. Another nice day today before we start feeling the warmth for sure tomorrow.
  20. Maybe...sure wouldn't surprise me. Best chance is if we can get dews up in the mid 70s for that to happen. With increasing amounts of darkness now, we'd need high dews I believe so that we don't radiate that well at night. That's the thing about mid to late August heat...even on hot days, it's often more pleasant in the evening with the sun setting earlier. Speaking of radiating, I got down to 56 last night. That's actually the coolest for the summer here.
  21. Beautiful satellite image this morning - such a well-defined cutoff from clear to cloudy skies...
  22. I hope that beautiful dog didn't get sick from eating pine tar...
