  1. Short of a day with full sun that is not expected, that record should be safe. Should be.
  2. Warm air was thwarted at the turnpike - 59 was my high but already down to 53.
  3. Understood. It was just a few years ago we had a significant snow in November, and given the hype started about next week, I think his point was simply "hey, looking at the pattern for next week, it just doesn't support snow here, or anywhere close to here". I thought it was a good thing to say - there are probably people in the area that believe that we're getting dumped on next week. I know my daughter was texting me about it.
  4. Just posting what he said. I'd say a good guess based on climo and logic.
  5. He said a few days ago that given the overall pattern, he doesn't anticipate snow locally until sometime in December. At this point that's probably a pretty good guess. Time will tell.
  6. Work keeps getting in my way of what's really important. See my post above about next week.
  7. And the new weather director at MU emphatically put the kabosh on snow chances for next week: MU Weather Center@MUweather (3/3) So, I think the ultimate outcome is that a cold front brings showers to the mid-Atlantic Sunday night into Monday, with any snow confined to northern New England and areas near the Great Lakes. Colder for Tuesday with wind gusts of 40-50 mph and *maybe* a few snowflakes.. MU Weather Center@MUweather (1/3) There's been a lot of unwarranted hype in the last day or two with talk of a major, early-season snowstorm in parts of the mid-Atlantic and Northeast early next week.. so I figured it was time to "chime in" and give my thoughts as a "voice of reason." MU Weather Center@MUweather (2/3) Late-November climatology tells us that it's rare for a major snowfall to impact the Lower Susquehanna Valley and I-95 corridor from New York to Washington, D.C., and large-scale features in next week's weather pattern aren't in the right places for this rule to be broken.
  8. More sun, more warmth. 54 now and climbing quickly.
  9. Guessing the warmup here is imminent - just had a light shower roll through. Thinking that might be the push of warm air. 47.
  10. Nice not being the hot spot for once. I'm at 46 now.
  11. I think it even looks like an impending snowstorm...the sky has that look I remember as a child, impatiently waiting for the first flakes to start flying. Wait...I still do that today...
  12. Well it better start coming soon, because after surging to 43 an hour ago, it's gone up 1 notch since. 44 here now.
  13. Low here was 28, rather cloudy and 43 here now. I was about to post that it's going to have a really hard time getting anywhere close to 60 today, but my temp just spiked from 39 to 43 in a matter of a few minutes despite the cloudy skies.
  14. From the map in the article, it looks like the storm is losetonewengland.
  15. Still looks like a run at 70 on Thursday as well.
  16. I wonder how much is on the ground in Mt. Jewett...
  17. I'll gladly vouch for this - When I was a kid, my father drove the turnpike a lot as he had work clients out in the Pittsburgh area. He would often comment how the weather would change drastically at times when exiting east or west out of some of the tunnels. That was my experience yesterday - from the time I left Pittsburgh until I reached the Blue Mountain tube the temp was between 32 and 37 for the entire route. Immediately after exiting east out of Blue Mountain, the temp spiked to the low to mid 40s with peaks of sun. (it was snowing/grauple entering the tunnel from the west) My son was like...what happened to the snow?
  18. Trip home on the Turnpike- had snow cover from the Donegal exit to just east of Somerset. Didn't see anything in the Bedford area but did see a little snow on the higher peaks approaching Blue Mountain. Most I saw in any area was just west of Somerset where there was 2-3" on the ground.
  19. And yet it's still raining here downtown in the Steel city.
  20. Maybe, but Ben played against Tampa in 2014 and lost to the backup QB on a 2-14 team
  21. Our peeps rip on CTP but that was a pretty colossal fail.
  22. I called a Lions first win of the season a month ago. I was basically right. What a miserable game on a miserable day. That was 99% rain you saw on TV. No snow since about noon.
