  1. Putting myself out there a bit - during childhood winters I slept with my NOAA weather radio. I always got excited when Bob Kurl would say "at 2:35am, National Weather Service radar shows an increasing area of snow...this area of snow extends from Central PA all the way south into Central Virginia. This area of snow is slowly moving north at 15 mph".
  2. Cable TV - my goodness, it didn't even exist until I was well into my teens. Once it arrived it was years before I realized that life existed outside of The Weather Channel, Home Team Sports, and PRISM.
  3. Yep, I was rooting for them. Disappointed that NBA teams essentially don't play the final 30-60 seconds any longer. Just dribble out the shot clock and give it up. They had time to drill yet another 3 and passed on it.
  4. Typical Philly team - can't even break the freaking record.
  5. Statement game by the C's. Hottest team in the league right now.
  6. Which is the home record. A record that a team that once finished 9-73 couldn't even accomplish!
  7. Worst home loss in history came 6 seasons ago against the Spurs - lost by 51. Garbage time can go either way - this has the potential to rival the record. Down by 42 with the starters still playing.
  8. For the record, I sold tonight. Can't blame me for this one. LOL
  9. MU doubling down on winter's imminent demise: https://www.millersville.edu/weathercenter/forecasts/weather-discussion.php
  10. And your trip to Mount Joy yesterday morning brought you both roads and fields void of snow.
  11. Yep. And both Horst and now Elliott at MU seem to include that during every wintry event. We know that not all snow is the same, but my neighbor in the next office thinks that 2-4" of snow is going to be 2-4" of snow on their street every time.
  12. First measurable snowfall (and it's less than 1" so far) today in the Sierra Mountains (Mammoth) since December 30th. 47 days (nearly 7 weeks) without even a snow flurry during mid-winter.
  13. Exactly why I asked the question - we've talked a lot over the years about when we want it to snow, do we want a lot of smaller snowfalls or one huge storm, during the day or night, etc. But I saw the discussion in the other thread regarding street accumulations and realized that even though I don't think I've ever verbalized it, I do feel strongly that snow is MUCH more impressive to me if it's accumulating on everything. To me, snow on grass but not roads = snow that will be history very quickly. Just my feelings.
  14. I should clarify, I think Simmons will play before then. I don't think he'll play in Philly. Seems like an easy game to "rest".
  15. Help pay for next year's investment. It costs a pretty penny to have full season NBA membership. I wouldn't sell them all, but maybe half? That's what we do during the regular season. We've been to 14 games. There's 12 home games left and we're going to 6 of them. 20 trips to south Philly is plenty during the winter.
  16. Makes complete sense. Thanks for the input. If work wasn't a concern would it still matter?
  17. I have no real expectations regarding Simmons. Once the game is within a few days of happening and his status becomes more clear, you'll see those outlandish prices essentially hold...or plummet. My wag is he doesn't play.
  18. Okay - so there's a little ongoing "discussion" our friends to our south are having this afternoon regarding snow accumulating on streets. Some feel that it truly doesn't matter, since snow isn't measured on streets, others are saying it's not the same if it's only accumulating on grassy surfaces. If I'm being completely honest - snow isn't the same to me if it isn't "all white" - there's nothing like the first stages of a "real snowstorm" when the roads and sidewalks are already white while the grass is only dusted. I don't really like seeing several inches on the grass if the roads and driveways are just wet. It loses some appeal to me. What says you, good people? Edit: It's not a plowable snowfall unless the plows are actually needed.
  19. I'm not selling. I'll sell 76ers-Nets playoff tickets if and when they occur. March 10th? No way.
  20. At least Paul was at the game on Saturday night. No sign of Harden.
  21. Heard some rumblings earlier about the first few days of March. Might be the next legit window?
  22. About as good as chance has Harden has at making a stop on defense.
  23. Same - it's been quite a while since there's been any snow here other than Sunday AM. Piles disappeared a couple of weeks ago.
