  1. We talked about this some time ago - whatever happened to the days when a front would come through and temps would crash 25-30 degrees in less than an hour? Maybe age is distorting reality somewhat in my mind, but I seem to recall times when I was younger when it would be 58 at 3pm and 32 at 4pm. Fronts don't seem to pack the same bite as they did years ago.
  2. Cloudy, dark, damp and 61 here at work. Much brighter and 65 at home.
  3. Nothing scientific...this is where I say "I think" - it seems in general that during our cooler months of the year, temps always seem to be overdone on the colder side in the mid to long range, and then start modifying as time gets closer. When was the last time it was modeled to get to say 10 degrees 7 days out and it actually ended up even colder than that? Much more often it seems like it ends up around 18-20 instead of 10.
  4. I took my wife to the orchard last Friday - absolutely perfect day, and it wasn't crowded. So far she's made muffins, a pie, apple sauce and apple crisp...we still have apples coming out of our fannies...
  5. So glad to hear that all is well! My wife wants me to take her to a craft show on Saturday - I told her she's getting out of bed early, because we'll be done crafting by 11:15 so that we can get home and I get properly adjusted for the day's important event...
  6. I was going to tag you in a post this morning to see if you were okay - I was concerned as you haven't posted much lately. (I know you're busy with fatherly duties and the house situation)
  7. I wonder how much will actually fall with the squall line - seems like while it might rain quite hard in some places, not sure it rains long enough to pull off those amounts.
  8. Exactly my obs - 60 degrees, .23" of rain has fallen so far.
  9. Also from MU this afternoon: a line of strong thunderstorms at the leading edge of the cold front may bring locally damaging winds (up to 60 mph) to the Lower Susquehanna Valley between ~1-7 p.m. Thursday. More widespread, 40-50 mph gusts and brief, torrential downpours will be common.
  10. @Blizzard of 93 @paweather from MU: "The season's first Freeze Warning may very well be issued next Tuesday or Wednesday night"
  11. I hit 70.0 at 1:03pm - 10 minutes later it's 69.3. Clouds are really starting to filter the sun here now.
  12. 68 here - should reach 70 yet again before the clouds cap the temp.
  13. I forgot about that. I honestly thought he was going to be right. I was rooting for him. LOL
  14. Sun, high clouds and 64. Winds are veering southwesterly now.
  15. 45 was my low, but a southerly breeze is working it's magic. Up 8 degrees this past hour to 53 now.
  16. I want to slightly amend my comment about MDT's readings - the cooler temps are specific to daytime highs. MDT still runs higher than I do for morning lows.
  17. This is the time of year for odd temp readings compared to "most" of the year. I drive each day directly along the river and it's usually several degrees cooler than I am 2 miles out. Once we get a few nights in the 30s MDT will often start to read cooler than what I'm at. It'll go back to normal after we get a couple of hard freezes and MDT will go back to being the warm spot.
  18. Gonna have to do it without Robertson...got hurt jumping around celebrating.
  19. We'll see - I think mid 70s is most likely - I'm only up 1 degree over the past hour. Sitting at 71.3 right now.
  20. Yet another day in the 70s is in the books! 70.2 under brilliant sunshine at 12:15pm.
