  1. Yes...and I have no idea what the reason is. Many days I'm running 5-8 degrees higher than you.
  2. I think the sun was actually a little less intense back then. Lots of haze created a "milky" sky on hot, humid days. Spent many summer days outdoors admiring the sky.
  3. I'm not sold on the 2 of you getting there today - you might need to wait another day. Satellite imagery suggests that you'll be fighting clouds and the passage of the front shortly: Here east of the river, we're already warmer and we'll have more time to bake, so 90 should be a lock here.
  4. With MDT reporting a low of 79 this morning, they have a running start on a well AN day today.
  5. This morning was by far the most uncomfortable out there IMHO. It was 80 when I left for work at 7:30am. It's already up to 83 and it's not yet 8:30 in the morning.
  6. Yes there was. That, combined with a decision to take our daily walk at 7:30 this evening made the stroll fairly comfortable.
  7. I hate hot weather and even I have no reason to complain right now. It's summertime weather.
  8. MU is hammering the front - saying that we'll enjoy at least 2 days of temps in the 80s with dews in the 50s to low 60s. We shall see.
  9. The 85 east of Chambersburg on that map - is that near Caledonia? Wondering what the location is.
  10. I was going conservative not knowing the timing of the front. In the summer it's not uncommon for fronts to come through later than progged. For now, Monday looks like the day the transition begins.
  11. Mid 80s looking more and more likely by next Tuesday. So close, and yet so far away...
  12. Mostly sunny here and 91. Day #2 in this heat wave, day #16 at or above 90 for the year.
  13. The rise has slowed a bit - 87 here. MDT still seems a bit low as you were inferring.
  14. 86 degrees in the historic district just past 10am.
  15. With the game being a 6:05 start, I'll be sitting/looking directly into the sun for the majority of the game. Joy.
  16. Yep, I checked out the matchup on Monday. Looks like about 97 in Philly on Saturday - if we're lucky, it might get down to 89 by the end of the game.
  17. My low was also 72. I'm on the verge of 80 (79.2) at 8:32am. Well above yesterday's mark and similar to a lot of mid to upper 90s days from the past.
  18. Heat Advisories are hoisted if the HI is expected to reach 100 or greater, but less than 105. If the HI is expected to exceed 105, an Excessive Heat Warning is issued.
  19. MU Weather Center@MUweather The #dogdays of summer have arrived & are here to stay for awhile! We'll bake under 90+ degree heat through the weekend, & there's an ~40% chance the mercury cracks 100°F on Sun. Drink plenty of non-alcoholic beverages & take frequent breaks in the shade or indoors.
  20. Sadly, I was not there. However, 5 years later - I was there in person to see Sandberg homer in his first 2 at bats against the Red Birds. Not as dramatic, but being my first ever game at Wrigley, and to see him drive in 6 prior to the end of the 2nd inning...pretty special nonetheless. 1989 was the first full season of lights at Wrigley. I really wanted to get there prior to that but never could. I remember games as a kid that would get suspended for darkness. Also back then, the neighborhood beyond the outfield wasn't built up like it is today, and the games back then were wild. Winds blew straight out uninhibited, which resulted in games like the 23-22 Phillies-Cubs slugfest.
  21. If you watched the video and are wondering - that is NOT me dancing on the dugout after the 2nd home run. I just want to make that clear.
  22. One of my favorite Sandberg memories (against a pretty good relief pitcher who just happened to be a Donegal Indian)
