  1. My wife and I were driving on 30 eastbound in York county last week when 2 riders passed us doing at least (conservatively) 90 mph...likely higher. Neither was wearing so much as a helmet. My wife freaks out and starts railing against bikers and I reminded her that not all bikers ride like that, and further, there are FAR too many automobile drivers who are just as guilty for driving recklessly. Inattentive driving has become almost the norm these days and it's frightening. I can choose to be the most defensive, cautious driver I can be and still be subject of the foolishness of others.
  2. Good point. I got nothing in response to that. LOL
  3. Geez, that sucks Jon. More than anything else, it's been the evenings that have been awful over our way. 88-90 degrees with 70+ dews at 8pm...I've had enough. And I'm not dealing with the sh*t that you have to.
  4. Yes. I think we'd need to be pulling off 98 or above highs to get double digits. It's the night time lows and high dews that are noteworthy of late. My mother...well, I'm not much like her. She has always loved the heat. She can't get enough of it. She called me last evening and asked when this was going to end. I thought that was interesting. So many people around me who are "summer fanatics" have been complaining as of late. It really is something to read your posts/comments and realize how different the weather is from the 'Ville to our area.
  5. Low was 78 here. I believe that's yet another double digit departure above normal.
  6. I really, really hope you and others who need it get rain soon. The weather can be very cruel.
  7. A couple of hours ago there was actually a fairly impressive line that formed almost directly over I95 from PA down into VA...that station that reported 78 had rain. Like you said, that doesn't account for the other areas. It's 95 here as well.
  8. I miss the days of nooners as well... 12-13 degree difference across the region. Sort of unusual for a day like this I'd think.
  9. We can hope... 92 now. Looks like a mid 90s kind of day.
  10. Today is day #26 for Maytown. So, MDT is already above normal for the entire summer season.
  11. MU Weather Center@MUweather Through Aug. 7, there have been 23, 90-degree days at KMDT (Harrisburg) and 20 at @millersvilleu. Those #'s will be at 25 and 22, respectively, after Tuesday. The avg. # of 90-degree days per year at KMDT is 22 and at Millersville is 25.. so it's been another hot summer!
  12. Yikes! Not a good way to run a special vacation. I'll be very careful in the sun.
  13. I got 20 days until I leave for Bermuda. Come back and it'll be Labor Day weekend. With that comes football and a ramp up of other fall activities. Even though it might very well be hot...my goal is to get through the next 3 weeks, come back and start thinking about Blizz's first snow map of the season. That always puts a smile on my face. LOL
  14. The irony in your post Jon...I'm not a big believer in purchasing extended warranties and maintenance plans, but I do have one for my central AC. It's like the most valuable thing in my life outside of my family. Part of my maintenance plan is having my unit inspected twice a year - the service tech is in my house right now performing my late summer check. Having my AC go down...I can't stand to think about that... I hope yours is back up and running soon. It's not a good day to be without it.
  15. My low was 75. My patience with summer is starting to wane a bit - the heat and humidity combo have been downright nasty. Walking outside into a blast furnace at 6:00am isn't my idea of fun or enjoyment. Having said that...it's summer. Summer's going to do summer kind of things.
  16. High today was 93. Skies have cleared off a good bit over the past couple of hours.
  17. It really is - though, it's not unusual for my temp to be at or above Dulles year round except for things like when it's snowing here and not there, etc. I'm not familiar with that area so I'm not sure how to speculate on the why's. LOL
  18. This year so far I've had 21 lows above 70, including 2 at 80.
  19. First time this year that MDT got to 90 and I did not. And yes, the forecasts for today did not verify well at all.
  20. 89 here. Currently 88. Wondering if the nearly 2" of rain last evening kept me a couple of degrees cooler than it could have been.
  21. 87/75 here = awful. Just finished mowing and I feel like I just spent 2 hours in a sauna. Making a run at another 90 degree day.
  22. I thought maybe you would catch part of the storm that went through around 8pm. I was coming home from Mountville on 30 and drove out of the rain on my side of Chickies. That had to be a close miss for you.
