  1. Winter in Arkansas this morning - excuse the dumpster. I'm the only one here who raises their wipers. No one from around here has learned this technique apparently. By the way, that's 100% sleet from yesterday's thundersleet storm.
  2. Easily my least favorite season. I don't like severe and I'm depressed that winter's over and is once again a long way off, so weatherwise...meh. I do love to garden so there's that.
  3. Reverse phycology...easy to see through, but it gave me a good laugh.
  4. MU's latest discussion: (I'll leave any personal commentary out for this one) https://www.millersville.edu/weathercenter/forecasts/weather-discussion.php
  5. My wife reports nothing, at least no evidence of snow in Maytown. Also, and this might get lost because of how insignificant last night's "storm" was, but the Euro's late snow salvo failed us. Just noting that.
  6. Good deal. Didn't seem like anything recordable fell north of the M/D line.
  7. We all want snow Blizz...we really do. At least I think all of us are snow lovers. However, the weather will be the weather. And this is a weather forum...all types of weather should be open for free discussion. If this was a record or near record snowy winter...or even just a cold winter, believe me, we'd be talking about it. But it's not. It's been very warm with very little snow. So, as weather enthusiasts, that's what we have to talk about. I won't put others accountable for their posts, but I'll freely share my thoughts - I'm not going to stop talking about whatever weather happens to be occurring. And if we torch the next few weeks, I'm going to talk about it. And if we're challenging records, I'm going to embrace it. I love extreme weather...sure, I'd rather it be extreme on the cold and snowy side and will celebrate WHEN that happens. Rain, snow, warmth, cold, etc...it's all weather. Go back in the thread to the few days surrounding Christmas. There were a TON of posts "celebrating" the cold snap. Again, not speaking for others but the posts spoke for themselves. Please, keep on hunting the next snow...you are free and encouraged to do so. Meanwhile, I'll continue to discuss the weather we're dealing with now. And I'm going to enjoy doing so.
  8. It'll be interesting to see if MU finished #2 or #3 all time.
  9. Disappointing - looking at obs to the south it looks like measurable snow was recorded from BWI area and south...northern MD folks didn't get anything either.
  10. Well...they got the snowy part right in the Sierra of California.
  11. Lancaster PA peep who is in Arkansas this week for work - forecast for here was light freezing rain mixed with sleet this afternoon, result has been heavy sleet with several rounds of lightning and thunder. NWS Little Rock acknowledging that this wave has significantly overperformed for both amounts and obviously, impacts. Hopefully that translates well further NE of here.
  12. Best wishes to her. I'm fortunate that I'm down here until Friday. It's a real mess - I think the airport in Little Rock is still open but most of the flights have been cancelled. Flying is stressful enough (I very nearly missed my connection down here from Chicago due to delays de-icing) and add in the bad weather and it becomes a nightmare. Sincerely hope she can get out safely and return home as soon as possible.
  13. I've never (I don't think...I hate using the word "never") experienced such low visibility with sleet falling. Can't be over 1/2 mile and is likely a good bit less. Windy, lightning, thunder, and sleet. All surfaces are covered. And...getting all this sleet will likely help us keep power during this round at least.
  14. Well I'll be doggoned...just saw a flash outside followed by loud thunder. It's a thundersleet storm!
  15. I'm going to have to share this with her...too funny not to.
  16. Nooner overcast and 25. Ice is on the doorstep...will it be sleet or freezing rain? Last evening was to be all freezing rain and we had a couple of hours of moderate to heavy sleet.
  17. That was one of MU's winter outlook highlights - very little chance of a major snowstorm this winter. Which raises a question - if our entire region got an 18"+ snowstorm, how many would then call this winter a success?
  18. Snow/sleet mix in Maytown according to Mrsitstrainingtime.
  19. I feel kind of bad but it is what it is - and it's a mess. LOL
  20. Deep snow in Chicago and ice ice baby in central Arkansas - people down here are grumbling about the weather as much as we are. It's just a different grumble. They're tired of this.
  21. Yes, and that's why I'm so impressed. It was 37 here when I arrived at noon yesterday. The temp has fallen off 12 degrees over the past 21 hours with no increase...just a very slow but steady drop. Little Rock NWS commented this morning how impressive it is because the cold is overperforming all guidance they had. Sounds like they might extend the warning through Thursday AM as a 3rd round of precip comes in later tomorrow.
  22. Cold air really drills in down south - don't they call these situations "blue northers" or something like that? Temp here continues to bleed down - it's 25 with the next round of precip about 2-3 hours away. Going to be a fun afternoon/night here. Edit: Meh, I just looked up blue norther and it's a term only used by Texans for cold fronts that drop temps rapidly. @canderson good folks don't want Razorbacks stealing their weather terms!
