  1. Bright sun here now - temp shot up from 38 to 43 over the past 45 minutes.
  2. I'm watching like a hawk. Problem is - vast majority of time, the snow shield with these storms is modeled too far west. When you're already west of the western envelope it's hard to get very excited. Just once it'd be nice to get a positive surprise and see reality end up coming west.
  3. Day #3 of my self-proclaimed "epic pattern - looking at what happened the past couple of days to our NE, and more importantly what's coming over the next 48 hours JUST to our NE...I feel kind of proud for my call made 4 weeks ago. Unfortunately...and the only way for me to make an analogy is to tie weather with sports. I think I just finished the MLB regular season slashing .352/44/137. Problem is, heading into the World Series it looks like I'm getting overmatched with a dose of nasty sliders and I'm going to end the year 0 for the World Series. And ultimately that is what I'll be remembered for. Hopefully the pitcher makes a mistake and I tee off on one later in the series.
  4. I'm on my phone out right now. Go to mammothmountain.com and you can view cams in the village and on the mountain.
  5. Looks like the current snow depth in town is 21'. There is 79" of QPF in the pack right now. This storm is producing 5-1 ratio...they call this "Sierra Cement"
  6. I was just about to post that it is puking snow in town right now. Watching the town Webcams and it's a surreal scene. As you said...a whole lot more snow to come. Another storm is expected by next weekend as well. Mammoth reported 33" of new snow at 8am this morning.
  7. I challenged you to find something positive to share. Obviously that was too much to ask. If you can't find it in yourself to be positive, at least provide accurate information.
  8. Actually they would be wrong if that's what they said for those dates. Average high today is 48.
  9. Actually no your average high temperature on March 17 is 51.3 so upper 40s is below normal.
  10. That has an incredibly low chance of happening like that.
  11. Hour 84 it's starting to deepen rapidly with snow in the NE part of PA but everything has moved out back our way.
  12. Hour 78 off the VA coast with light rain east of the Susky with some light snow in the Poconos. (paweather's map above)
  13. Euro really retrogades today's system and it's not that far off the coast on Sunday - wonder if that has any implications on this system?
  14. At hour 72 it's sitting over the Cape Hatteras lighthouse but it's NOT strengthening. Just some light precip in our area.
  15. During the 90 or so days of met winter, my heat was on a total of 24 nights, AC ran 11 nights, the remainder of the winter I didn't have to run anything. Mammoth is hoping to stay open all year - they currently have a 219 - 263" base (which is growing as we speak) but more importantly, there is over 70" of water in the snowpack. It's not going anywhere anytime soon.
  16. Just now getting the first precip of the day here at work - light rain and 40.
  17. I should have mentioned the caveat to my total - my wife assumed measurements this year as everything fell while I as at work. So it's an official unofficial total. LOL So...Blizz will say that it hasn't been THAT bad?
  18. Good thing we live in the era of the GPS - some out of towners are causing issues with fender benders and such - virtually every business in town is not visible from the road...simply can't see anything other than ginormous walls of snow. At least if you know a specific destination you can plug it in which helps in those cases, but someone perusing for a meal or other venue on a whim is pretty much driving blindly.
  19. Shout out to Roundtop - how they kept going until now is truly remarkable. Whitetail closed for the season in February...
