  1. I do not personally like to be critical of CTP and have defended them numerous times over the years...but this simple post of yours sort of sparked 2 issues that I have with them: 1. There are often discrepancies between their forecasts and their maps. This is the map they posted publicly yesterday morning: Clearly, they anticipated rain to be into the greater Harrisburg area by midday. If that's the case then their forecast should match it. And this map was the inspiration behind my 11:07:32 post that I made about when I thought rain would arrive in Maytown. LOL 2. My second thing is this - have you or anyone else noticed the "bizarre" wording in some of their forecasts? For example, last week there was a day when my forecast was this: "A chance of showers after 1pm, then showers and thunderstorms after 3pm, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 4pm, then showers after 5pm, then a chance of showers after 8pm." That's a lot to digest, but can someone tell me what is the difference between saying that there will be showers, and then showers are likely? Doesn't likely mean that essentially...there will be showers? To me, that's just too much information. We've already come to the conclusion that the majority of the public is lost when it comes to weather...a forecast like the one I just referenced doesn't help any, I think.
  2. Radar looks great- rain should be arriving here between 9 and 10am it looks like. Bring it!
  3. Thank you! He included that map but I had trouble attaching it.
  4. MU's thoughts for the weekend: Despite recent showers and #thunderstorms, northern MD and much of southeastern PA are still being plagued by moderate drought conditions. However, a widespread 2-3" of rain from tomorrow through Sunday evening will put an abrupt end to the drought!
  5. Yeah round after round of rain just get moving west to east over the southern half of Adams, York and Lancaster counties. More or less the Rt. 30 corridor was the line between dry with some breaks in the clouds and a chilly rain.
  6. If my wife saw this she'd say that's me...(not literally in that picture, of course)
  7. CTP's updated forecast includes a major change for Sunday. This morning's forecast was Partly Sunny with showers after 3pm and a high of 72. Latest forecast is Rain. High of 63.
  8. I have a few big projects that I'm working on. In fairness, I left for a couple of hours to go to the gym with my wife so that broke up the day nicely.
  9. Everything that I'm hearing is that the rain won't arrive east of the river until the afternoon hours. We'll find out soon!
  10. Wow, did you ever smoke me! More than doubled in fact. I had a very long day at the office (15 hours) and didn't leave for home until after 11pm last night. It rained nearly nonstop from 3pm until sometime after I had left...it was still a moderate rainfall when I left for home. By the time I got to Columbia the roads were dry. Pulled in my driveway and the sky was mostly clear. (but it did rain again overnight)
  11. A lot of people in the office are complaining and thought that this type of weather was done. It's amazing how many people think that it's a steady rise from winter to summer and that we don't go through the ups and downs of transitional periods.
  12. Yep that makes a of sense. I'm rooting for that scenario.
  13. MU is in the "rain camp" for the daytime hours Sunday with highs in the mid 60s.
  14. Sorry that you and others didn't receive more rain yesterday. The GFS and NAM that you describe seem to go directly against what CTP is thinking - they have me at Partly Sunny and warm on Sunday with a chance of showers after 3pm.
  15. .32" of rain fell yesterday afternoon and overnight in Maytown. .76" fell in Conestoga.
  16. Closest rain gauge to my office is at .48" for the day" but only .16" has fallen at home. All this afternoon.
  17. Reverse psychology only works during the non-winter months I guess...
  18. 2nd storm here at the office now. No hail but heavy rain, lightning and thunder.
  19. He can go with it but hail was going with force into my car. LOL
  20. Temp dropped down to 50 at the height of the storm but has rebounded to 55 now. Not much if any wind so the hail did not drift.
  21. The cell that produced hail here at work and at home is going nuts SW of Lancaster city right now. That area is getting smoked.
  22. I was caught off guard by the lightning - multiple close cloud to ground strikes. I was in Columbia heading to Conestoga and the hail was significant - I was driving so no good measurements but the car was getting torpedoed. Best hail display I've seen in some time.
  23. I'll say! Hail, heavy rain, vivid lightning and thunder. Just arrived here at work and it's impressive.
