  1. Mowing in t minus 5 hours. I swear it shot up 6" yesterday. By next week it might be an every other day thing if we get a lot of rain.
  2. MU has been tweeting a lot about the upcoming pattern - this is all from the past hour: (1/3) Now that's a change! The Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) wave has migrated into phase 1. In an ENSO-neutral April, there is a strong correlation between phase 1 & the large-scale pattern across North America. Unfortunately, phase 1 promotes below-normal temps in the East. (2/3) The ECMWF computer model 500 mb height anomaly forecast for the upcoming weekend looks a lot like the MJO phase 1 pattern. A ridge over the West (+PNA) will combine with high-latitude, Greenland blocking (-NAO) to suppress the Jet Stream over the eastern U.S.. (3/3) What does this mean for us? To make a long story short, the summerlike warmth of recent weeks is gone. Highs will be stuck in the 50s/60s each afternoon through at least May 5th. And yes, we'll deal with a few "cold rains" and perhaps another frost or two. I'm not a fan..
  3. You know fun times are ahead when Weather Will is breaking out probability maps on 4/25....
  4. I'm going to say a big FUKING no to forst tonight but I was right last night so it's time for me to be taken behind the wood shed. LOL
  5. Correct, it wasn't "windy" per se but it was more than windy enough to prevent good radiational cooling.
  6. My concerns about the winds last night were well founded. I was still at 41 at 4:00am before it dropped off sharply after that.
  7. Warmer this morning than yesterday- 36.1 was my low yesterday, 36.4 this morning.
  8. 46.2 and quite breezy at 10:40pm. Going to need the winds to die off soon if we're going to get frosty overnight.
  9. Ruh roh...paging @Blizzard of 93 straight from MU's warminsta himself! (1/2) A weak disturbance near the base of an upper-level trough over southeastern Canada will pivot through NY and PA on Wednesday. Expect isolated showers to erupt during the afternoon/evening hours, and I can't even rule out some #graupel due to the presence of cold air aloft.. (2/2) The freezing level on Wednesday will only be about 5,000 ft. above the ground, and rapidly ↓ temps with ↑ height indicate an unstable atmosphere. Graupel forms when supercooled water droplets accumulate and freeze on falling snowflakes and will be most likely N/W of I-81.
  10. Update from Maytown while I'm at work: Wife: "Does our air conditioning really need to be running today?" Me: "If the air conditioning is running, then obviously the temp inside is warm enough for it to run." (I'm waiting for the "can I please open the windows?" question next)
  11. It's been a LONG time since this map looked anything close to this:
  12. A couple of days of light to moderate rain? Sign me up!
  13. .667 baseball has us 4.5 games out on 4/24. 1984 Tigers won 35 of their first 40 games. The AL East was decided by the end of May.
  14. Absolutely correct. Hopefully we all share the wealth this week.
  15. Elliott rides the middle ground and has mid 50s here in Lanco.
  16. Agree - if I had to hedge higher or lower than 36, I'd take the lower. I'll say 34.4.
  17. I'm sorry to hear that, very unfortunate. Right now CTP only has us getting down to 36 again tonight and the rest of the week it's 40s and 50s. Might be some scattered frost tonight but it looks likely that we'll miss any freezes.
  18. Morning low of 36 in Maytown. No frost, forst, or any other fuking wintry stuff this morning. LOL
  19. During our riverside walk we encountered some sprinkles this afternoon. Currently it's mostly clear and 52.
  20. I think you are as well. I'm at 6 currently and will mow at least once next week.
  21. Radar looks promising for me to tack on some more. More surprising to me is how we missed the storminess - other than the one big strike it's been stratiform light to moderate rainfall from the start. Very beneficial. Hope you get some more too.
