  1. Just got clipped by a shower that got me to 1.04" for the week.
  2. Received .54" of rain this morning. Total this week is .99"
  3. I literally call my wife a hot tamale at least once a week...
  4. Every time I drive down 95 to Florida I always "relax" once I get below Richmond...I've always considered the Carolinas and Georgia as relaxing parts of the trip as traffic is usually much thinner down that way, but at the same time, some of the very worst of the accidents that we've encountered are also in those areas. Lots of open space for people to start doing goofy things behind the wheel.
  5. Thanks - I guess this might be a situation where models/maps > forecasts as what has just transpired was most certainly NOT what was expected...we were to get a round of light to moderate rain this morning followed by a 2nd round later today with scattered storms.
  6. Strasburg RR might be doing an inspection to verify that there aren't trees or other large debris on the tracks?
  7. People talk about that in other subs on this board. Never understood it but I can drive 15 minutes from work and go through multiple locations that were hit within the past 20-25 years. We get 'em and I don't like it.
  8. Honest question to anyone who might know - what would cause the explosive development of severe weather that just occurred? There was a decaying line of stratiform rain moving east, it's still early in the day without sun so it wasn't related to heating/instability like we'll likely get later...so why did those storms blow up over southern York county/nothern MD and then continue to grow as they moved east/northeast?
  9. I'm sure - New TOR warning up east of there now.
  10. I've been watching this live feed from Strasburg - the railroad is holding the 11am departure back due to the severity of the storm at the end of the line at Paradise:
  11. MU Weather Center @MUweather · 9m This has escalated quickly. Any tornado would be a brief, weak spin-up, but straight-line winds up to 70 mph are likely in spots. Expect downed trees, power lines, and roof damage in some spots. If you haven't yet done so, seek shelter now!
  12. In a year highlighted by very few thunderstorms, 2 Tornado warnings in the LSV this week. 1st one verified as well.
  13. Mow #16 will take place tomorrow in Maytown.
  14. God that sucks. Really hope all is well and you get good news soon.
  15. I just posted MU's thoughts - I don't see any way that we get his amounts from that line over here in Lanco. I'm shocked he went that high for this initial round.
  16. Sounds like it might not be: As expected, an initial band of rain and embedded T-storms is traversing northern MD and south-central PA from west-to-east this morning. Most areas will pick up 0.25-0.50” of rain from this. After a brief lull early this afternoon, a second round of showers/storms should erupt.
  17. Mostly cloudy and 65. Really hoping that slug makes it here in a couple of hours.
  18. Mishkin comes unglued and screams inaudibly for 30 seconds...next you hear Phil say "wow" in a monotone voice. Classic.
  19. Bears have had some great announcers - John Walton preceded Fisch, I'm sure as a Caps fan you're familiar with Walton. My all-time favorite though was Dave Mishkin, now the legendary voice of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Here is Mishkin with both the Bears and Lightning:
