  1. We've taken the Auto Train to Sanford FL many times, the Silver Star to Orlando, and many regional trips to NYC and such. Really excited to head west! Heading west it's a little over 51 hours on that route, 65 hours heading east. As always with Amtrak, delays are to be expected and built into the traveler's schedule. It's not the way to travel if you're inpatient or in a hurry, but if you're in a total relax vibe like we'll be you can't beat it. We'll be heading nearly due west through Denver as Bubbler mentioned and reaching the west coast near San Francisco. It'll take us a week to get there as we're stopping several places along the way. Spending a week in California and then heading east out of LA across the deep south before turning north along the Mississippi towards Chicagoland.
  2. California Zephyr westbound from Chicago to San Francisco, then the Texas Eagle eastbound from Los Angeles to Chicago. A series of routes from Mount Joy out to Chicago and back. We'll be renting a car to drive the Pacific Coast highway south from SF along the coast.
  3. 51 here with on and off sprinkles/very light showers. Definitely does not have the look and feel of early May, that's for sure. I still might be able to sneak in #9 in the next couple of hours...
  4. You might very well catch and pass "me" this month as I'll be traveling for 23 days beginning on Saturday. Rest assured, family will be stepping in to keep the mow count growing. LOL
  5. My grass needs cut - tonight is an obvious choice but the weather might have other ideas for me. I might have to wait until Thursday!
  6. That's exactly why I said what I did - I was on the same cam.
  7. Looking at radar out in western PA it appears as if the Laurels are getting smoked right now. Some really intense rates in the higher elevations.
  8. Loving every second of it! Picked up .07" of rain this evening.
  9. After my earlier bravado, it never did rain here!
  10. That is correct! Mammoth is expecting a couple of feet of snow this week.
  11. Radar almost looks more encouraging for rain this afternoon than it did yesterday. (at least here) A lot of stuff is popping across the western 2/3rds of the state.
  12. Sure is, and the .87" east of York city and the .93" in E-town lines up perfectly with the .89" that I reported as I fall between those 2 points exactly how the bands were oriented yesterday.
  13. Yesterday's rainfall map - the .93" in Elizabethtown is within .04" of my final total:
  14. I dish sarcasm with the best, no doubt. Having said that, I take a lot of pride in my numbers and it seemed like you were doubting them. I do not over or underreport data. Moving on now.
  15. I responded to him as well. The difference was he asked a legitimate question and you came across as sarcastic.
  16. Unlike Friday's stratiform coverage of rain, today there were numerous bands oriented south to north. Shoot, MDT had nearly 1" of rain before the first drops fell here. You and I are not the only ones under 1" for the day.
  17. And .89" in Maytown and you can question that all you want. My station and my report from the station are honest and accurate.
  18. Is that for the day or since Friday? I'm currently at .89" for the day, 2.30" since Friday. I believe my station is accurate. I was within a couple hundredths of an inch of @Mount Joy Snowmanfrom his last report earlier today.
  19. Tonight's dinner menu will feature a lot of Curry out west...
  20. 2" of rain is much appreciated but today was nothing like what was forecast.
  21. Models have been insistent that the heaviest rainfall would be early this evening in the LSV but the radar seems to be drying out. Looking like I'll end up with well under 1" for the day.
