39 and pretty nice at noon. Elliott says .50" north to 1" south of rainfall tomorrow. WPC concurs: -

I'm at 10.7" for the winter. Some in here are doing significantly better. This was not supposed to be a good winter in terms of snowfall. If I was offered 10" (of snow) back in November I probably would have taken it and run. Yes, the cold definitely has been more of an impact than snow but it hasn't been as bad as it could have been. -

When we're going up against both Elliott and Chuck, we're screwed! LOL Both have said no way to next week. Of course, that doesn't mean they won't be wrong... -

It sounds like they were all pretty young, I think? Just horrific. -

I'll be completely transparent here - I'm about at the point that I'm almost afraid to fly anymore. When I was younger I spent a lot of time flying solo all across the country, mostly chasing sporting events. LA, Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, Orlando, San Fran...when I was in my late teens into my early 20s I took so many trips. Flying was easy...no TSA, very few restrictions, etc. Of course, 9/11 changed all of that. Understandably so. But flying today to me is a hassle. Long lines, angry people, delayed flights (and missed connections) have worn me down. I now look for reasons to travel by rail or car. This year, our family is going to Disney in August. Most are flying, I'm taking the Auto Train out of Lorton VA. Doing so actually feels like a part of my vacation. On top of that, as I get older I'm starting to become more and more fearful of things out of my control. Flying is at the top of that list. Last time I flew was coming home from Dallas almost 2 years ago. Flew into MDT, the winds that night were gusting to 50 ( @canderson) and our plane was bouncing and buckling all over the place on approach. Then we had to circle and try again. The entire time I'm a mess. 35-40 years ago I likely would have thought it was a cool experience. Today...notsomuch. I can't begin to describe the helpless, sick feeling I had last night (and still do) thinking about that incident and what those poor souls must have...I can't even finish. -

52.2 here at noon. Winds slowly increasing. Good thing we're not expecting squalls down here because with temps in the 50s... -

Yeah, and I wasn't clear with my post. What I mostly hear being discussed is how the government is infiltrating our lives in different ways and not so much directly attributed to the climate. I uh...don't believe that the government maneuvered a 'cane in any way. -

Just going solely as shown here, wouldn't our winds be screaming out of the south/southeast? -

I can't state enough how badly I want the Eagles to win. I'm so sick of KC. I hope the Eagles beat up on them to the point that the refs can't influence the game. -

This is a hot topic in my office at work. There are a group of people who are 100% convinced that this is happening. Again to my point from earlier...I don't add much to the conversation but more and more people are on board with this thought. -

I know that there are some who refuse to come here but I sensed it was the right decision to break off and create a separate thread. I like to try and keep peace. Thank you for coming over and sharing your thoughts. -

I wanted to respond to this yesterday but didn't know what to say. A day later and I still don't know what to say. I'll be completely honest...I'm embarrassed with how little I know/understand about topics I really should know a lot more about. I've become very jaded over the years. It's not an excuse. I need to be better. What I will say that while overall I very much consider myself a conservative, I'm not one who keeps my eyes shut when I see things around me that don't support that narrative. Climate change is probably the best example. I understand the arguments against it and for some time I fell in line with some of that thinking. (we are merely running in alternating cycles of warmth and cold) However, I can't ignore the fact that sea levels are rising at a rate that's unprecedented. Many east coast communities are on the verge of extinction because of the unrelenting rise in water levels. That seems to be directly related to our warming climate. On the whole though, I need to get my head out of the sand (what's left of it) and become more in tune with what's happening around me. Right now I'm just too ignorant (in the true sense) to offer much dialogue. That's as honest as I can be right now. -

My lowest temp since midnight was 40.7! On my drive to work the temp ranged from 35 to 41. I was the warmest location, but no where was it below freezing. From the map, it looks like most of western Lanco was well into the 30s this morning. -

If nothing else it will be entertaining to see how next week breaks for us. Elliott said it could be 35 or 70. Where does the boundary set up? -

It's legit infuriating how he wins "just enough" games every single year to essentially walk just beyond the line where the team would be forced to make a decision. Even if he was a good coach, most times a coach sort of wears out their welcome and at some point, it's time to part ways. Clearly, the Steelers reached that point with him at least a few years ago. Organization is loyal way beyond fault. -

On a warm spring day, I think this was probably in 2003 or 2004, I was standing outside with a colleague at lunch and we were looking west across the river. (this is a 100% true story BTW) I say to the guy, "man...what an incredibly beautiful day!" (It was one of those days that the sky was the deepest of blues imaginable and it was probably about 65-70 at the time) After a few seconds of silence, his response was "eh, look over the landfill...there's a cloud over there." Sure enough, in the midst of a sky that was 99.98% clear...there was a single, small cumulus cloud to our southwest. One cloud. Perfect day. But he found that one cloud... #wasitactuallyruinthatIwastalkingto? -

I responded to Elliott's post and informed him that according to you, his thinking is dead wrong and that he needs to do better. Shoot, I think he already pulled his thoughts down.
