  1. Today was day #16 here to reach the 90 degree mark, and it's the 4th hottest day of the year. Assuming that the next 4 days reach the 90s, that would make an even 20 for the year. My highest temp for the year currently is 97 and any of the next 4 days could reach or exceed that. It still hasn't been a bad summer for heat but I imagine we're going to build up a huge positive departure for September this week.
  2. Sunny, breezy and 94. Feels even hotter after our fall-like weather.
  3. There was a survey conducted in 2020 by a local radio station on when listeners thought that summer ended. The results were: First day of school: 44% Labor Day: 37% Fall Equinox: 19% 8 out of 10 people consider summer over by the end of the day tomorrow. Edit: September 1st was actually not provided as a choice. LOL
  4. Higher dewpoint is noticeable today. Currently my readings are 83/66.
  5. We did just that. I saw more apples yesterday than I think Americans can possibly eat.
  6. We noticed! We took a long, circuitous trip home through Adams County. Some remote areas once you get away from the 30 corridor. A whole lot of apple orchards!
  7. Drove through Cashtown last evening on our way home from Caledonia. I think my wife is ready to move to that area. LOL
  8. We are very close to that spot. Man, what a beautiful day here...
  9. No...sitting by the creek with a book and not a care in the world...
  10. Low this morning was 51 here, currently it's up to 71. On our way over to Caledonia State Park.
  11. Lancaster finishing August with a total of 1.17" of rain, or 25% of normal.
  12. Active brush fire ongoing about 1.5 miles down the road from me. Going to be more of them...
  13. I made a post a couple of weeks ago mentioning that there was an August years ago when Lancaster County dropped into the 30s during August...I could not remember the exact year, but you just answered it. Thank you for that. You post a lot of information and data. I hope you'll be willing to post about, and be just as in-depth with your numbers when we have cold months as well.
  14. I matched HGR's yearly total in a couple of days from TS Lee!
  15. Exactly - 27 mows isn't that many once you hit the twice a week mark. I was doing that pretty regularly until the past couple of weeks.
  16. 16.9" of snowfall followed that winter. (More numbers for 'ya)
  17. As of yesterday, MU was predicting that at least 2 records would fall next week. He even went on to predict the hottest temp at MU next week would be 97.
  18. There were a lot of forecasts in late spring for a very hot July and August. In late June and early July the forecast shifted to a hot August. As August wore on the forecast shifted yet again, this time to a hot September. Now, there are kinks in that forecast already showing up. It would be prudent to file this away in our minds if and when models start picking up on wintry weather in a few months. Don't count on anything until it's actually happening.
  19. Congratulations. You will likely win the 2023 Central PA Great Mowing Derby. I mowed for the 27th time one week ago today and will not again for at least another 10-14 days if then. Grass is dead.
  20. I was just outside watering and the sweat was pouring off of me. F*ck your chilly shtick.:)
  21. Mower king here is only mowing once every 2 weeks right now. It's very dry across most of the southern tier now. If there are any older schools remaining that don't have AC, kids might be getting an early vacation next week.
  22. .03" of rain overnight. Been a while since I even got a tenth of an inch.
