  1. This was my senior year of high school. Neither of my parents went to Penn State and neither were interested in taking me up when I was growing up. Nonetheless, I followed them from a young age, mostly by listening to Fran Fischer on the radio and watching "TV Quarterbacks" on WITF, a 30 minute weekly review of Penn State's games with Joe Paterno. Beaver Stadium has changed a little since my first game. Have to admit, I miss looking out at Mount Nittany...
  2. I'd say 25 of the games that I've seen have been against weaker teams. However, my first game was in 1982 against #5 Pitt, whose QB was a guy named Dan Marino. I've also seen games against Wisconsin when they were in the top #10 as well as USC in 1994 when I sat directly behind Franco. Here is my introduction to PSU football - game was on Black Friday and I was in complete awe: (you might also recognize the play by play announcer from 41 years ago) Oh, and yes! I've never seen my beloved Lions lose in person.
  3. Travis Kelce jersey sales are up nearly 400%. If you want one, you better act swiftly.
  4. At the very least the flow aloft would suggest perhaps a return of weather like today for Thursday night and early Friday. Start of next week looks quite warm - 80s quite possible a week from now.
  5. Haha! Well, App St. actually has a very proud history and have dominated the Division 1-A field in the past. In my 33 games that I've attended in person, I'm 33-0 now. The App. State game was easily the closest we came to losing. App. St. took the lead with 1 minute left before McSorley took the team down the field to tie it, then won it in OT.
  6. I have several family members that live in Lewes - actually on the main road leading towards the park. I've been to Johnnie Walker beach before, LOL. The winds there are usually a little stronger than surrounding areas, assuming because it is a "cape" that sticks out there a bit. We absolutely love to ride bike through that park.
  7. No Iowa fans super close to us but I think about that every year...when fans come in from the visiting school, what are they thinking? We were at the PSU-App St. game back in 2018. We had Mountaineer fans all around us, and it was one of the best events I've been to. A LOT of super classy people from Boone, NC were in attendance and it was so much fun conversing with them. They were gawking the entire day at the PSU atmosphere.
  8. Sounds like my 10" of rain OBX trip of 2020 - hopefully you still had fun.
  9. An emphatic YES to all of this. Saturday night was the 2nd loudest sporting event I've personally attended - only thing that's been louder was Oriole Park on 10/3/2014 when Delmon Young hit a 3-run double in the bottom of the 8th to put the O's on top of the Tigers. People who were staying in the hotel across the street later said that the hotel was vibrating. But that was a singular moment...the entire Whiteout experience is unsurpassed. TV does NOT do it justice.
  10. Yes indeed Blizz. Many, many years where I'm begging for summer to end. This summer was a picnic.
  11. .11" since midnight brings my total since last Friday evening up to 2.71".
  12. My yard reminds me of what it normally looks like in April. A whole lot of green, and a whole lot of tall green.
  13. Our thread over the past several months reminds me of times when a fresh model run comes out prior to a major snowstorm... "It's East" "It's West" "It's North" "It's South" One's perspective and reality can definitely be blurred at times. My perspective is that the summer 2023 was not overly hot. In my book, that's what matters most...how did I navigate/feel about it?
  14. Duh! Not sure how I got confused with an 11am game on Saturday morning and the revelry that unfolds on Saturday night. LOL
  15. Sorry for the confusion Jon - it's 11am out there as MJS stated below. That's the time that he needs to be ready for!
  16. Well, I hope you all have a fun, safe trip and enjoy your time in Chicago. I've been out a few times for baseball weekends at Wrigley and I've enjoyed myself immensely. And sometimes our greatest memories come from experiences that we don't think will live up to others. Hopefully Saturday night isn't "too fun" or that 11am kick might become an issue...
  17. @Mount Joy Snowman - as promised, an open challenge to you: @sauss06 and I completed the heavy load for the 2023 PSU football season. We "suffered" through all kinds of inclement weather on Saturday/Saturday night and brought home with us a rousing W. Someone had to do it...we were willing, able, and successful. And you're welcome for keeping the BCS playoff hopes alive... And now, Snowman, it's up to you. The next game looms just 5 days away in Evanston. The current forecast is for hazing, I mean sunny skies with temps in the low 70s. Pretty much a spectacular fall day in the Windy City 'burbs. Do not f*ck this up! It's going to be a great high school atmosphere, an early kick, and this game has letdown written all over it. Light a fire in their rumps and get us a win. That's your mission...a win. A solid, convincing win. Don't come home without it. We got UMASS lurking and we must have this one!
  18. My highest wind gust was 27 mph. LNS had several gusts to 30. Underperformed here.
  19. I got home at 2:30 this morning. Finished with 1.14" yesterday and am now at 1.02 for today. 2.16" and counting. Rain also seems to be more tropical in nature and seems to be "accumulating" efficiently. Stay tuned tomorrow for my recap of last night as well as a personal challenge to you!
