    It is really, really nice outside...hard to believe it's August 22nd. Sunny skies and 72 approaching 11am and with the breeze it probably feels cool to some, especially in the shade. @paweather - I'm heading to south Philly tonight to see the Phils-Giants game.

    Outside of Friday, it seems the best chance to reach the 90s might be in September and after met summer has ended.

    Our oldest son is home from Houston for a week. He can't believe how cold 80 feels.

    I wish I had good records from when I was a kid - there was a morning in late August, probably in the late 70s or early 80s when Landisville in Lancaster County got down to 38. I seem to remember getting down to 42 that morning. It really sticks in my memory though that here in Lanco we had a morning in August that reached the 30s. I wish I had definitive data.

    Mow #26 commences shortly! You have had a LOT more rain than I have, and your mow total is probably closer to me than you realize. Last year I was well into the 30s at this point.

    Whoops, thanks for further checking into this. I got my numbers from the basin of Death Valley National Park. Although interestingly, every single number that I saw in the forecast that I got is identical to yours except for Sunday's high. Every one.

    I believe that this is the first official Tropical Storm watch ever issued for California. Someone please correct me if that's an error on my part.

    @Mount Joy Snowman - this is right up your alley! The current forecast high for Death Valley on Sunday is the upper 60s. Riddle me this, has that ever happened before in August? Next 3 days: 116 for today, 104 for tomorrow, and upper 60s for Sunday.

    77 at 1:45 with a stiff breeze/wind - feels absolutely incredible outside. Some people might even be donning sweatshirts tonight. Probably another 3-4 months or so for me of course.

    Partly sunny and 75 at noon - a mid August day with sun and the temp is going nowhere. Love it!

    It has to be. Especially given that precip continuously forms to your east.

    Yes sir. I haven't had a single day that seriously threatened 100. We've had some stretches where the weather was very much summer-like. It's a phenomena that happens each year between May and September. And in some summers that weather is relentless, given that it's summer. That has not been the case this year. Nights are warmer than they were years ago. No denying that. But daytime highs have been pedestrian.

    Just unreal. I was surprised to see .16" fell here overnight.

    This summer just has not been that bad. At least from my perspective and I hate heat.
