I saw that too, and I can so relate! I used to get VERY worked up watching my teams, especially the Orioles. Not so much anymore. Having realistic expectations helps a lot. And yes, this season has already been a 100% win.

Would not be at all surprised to be in 2nd place come Monday morning - the Orioles have been playing ridiculous baseball...until the past week they were running 2 games behind Atlanta. Think about that for a minute...a team that went 52-110 in 2021 was playing at a level that NO one would have seen coming. The team was on pace to win 105 games. Objectively...and this is I think an honest, fair assessment...if you study our 25 man roster and match up against Atlanta, there is a HUGE gap right now. The Orioles, good as they are, talented as they are, have been playing out of their minds. The fact that they've played out of their minds for 135-140 games has been crazy. The O's longest losing streak this year is 4 games. That's absurd. The '83 World Champion team lost 7 games in a row twice that season! This team has been long overdue for a slump, and it's likely coming at what many would say is the worst time. (going into what likely will be the series that decides the division) The fact that they scored 2 runs total in the past 2 games against a really bad St. Louis team is troubling. I'd actually argue that I'd rather them slump now, perhaps at the cost of not winning the division, and get themselves right prior to the playoffs is better than playing .750 ball like they have been the past month. A slump was overdue an imminent...get it out of their system now and try to build some momentum thereafter. How many times across all sports do teams cruise into the playoffs only to lay an egg? The Tampa Bay Lightning did just a couple of years ago. It happens a lot...last year the Phillies upended the Braves due in part because the Fightin's got hot at just the right time. I'm trying not to sweat these next 4 games. This season has been a blast. It's also been a surprise...the Orioles weren't really supposed to be in this spot until next year or even 2025. They've exceeded every expectation. That reality keeps me grounded as the season winds down. Shoot, most of the upper echelon talent is still at Norfolk and Bowie!

My wife and I were talking about this after the game - I just don't see a repeat of last year. Atlanta has improved this year and the Phillies pitching is thin...they really miss Eflin and Gibson. I don't think the Braves bullpen is better but their starters are and as @canderson said...as good as the Phillies can rake at the top of the lineup, there are no easy outs with Atlanta. That entire team can flat out mash.

That ball he hit last night - only a handful of players in MLB with that kind of power. Took a real good pitch on the outside corner and went with it - majestically about 400' to left center. The moment he made contact, almost the entire ballpark made the sound "ohhhhhh"

I am so sorry. I'm equally surprised and disappointed for you to see this. Last night coming home from Philly, we hit rain at 30/41 in Gap...rained steady the entire way home. We took friends who live down near Conestoga, nicely raining at their crib when we dropped them off. Was raining moderately when we arrived home. It felt like an "evenly distributed rain" given the amount of coverage we experienced...there was no let up in rates along that entire route. I ended up .48"

Right now I'd say they're in love with their decision...

I usually take Rt. 30 east to Rt. 41 in Gap, and then down 41 to Avondale and jump on 1 east to 322 in Concordville - that stretch on 41 is sketchy late at night. In the 17 miles I might pass 3 cars. (slight exaggeration) I miss Coatesville by 10 miles that route. Other main option is the 'pike to the Schuylkill Expressway...always a treat!

Sideling Hill is great if you have 1.5 hours to waste unless you're traveling in the middle of the night.

Everyone knows that Somerset is king on the 'pike.

Ain't going to lie - I'm somewhat nervous about driving home from Philly late tonight through that general area. My "go-to" routes are quite isolated with next to no traffic. Thinking about taking the turnpike and running his ass over.

Maybe when Jim Nantz retires Josh and Tony can be a broadcast team?

That's rough. This is the first season of his career that I do NOT have him - I had a bad feeling at the end of last season and dropped him. I was afraid he'd throw 4 TDs and for 386 yards last night. I honestly feel bad for him because I really like the dude. I picked him up originally because of that and not because of his talent. LOL
