  1. They are different people - TimB is no longer posting on the forum.
  2. I was active in the Pittsburgh thread over the weekend and TCC was gung ho on the snow train.
  3. To his credit, he's been posting a lot about snow in the Pittsburgh thread. In fact, he was the first to jump on their snow train. I'll give him that.
  4. Back home from Yinzertown. AC is running hard. 68 in Maytown.
  5. Ravens: 2 touchdowns Steelers: 0 touchdowns Tucker: 2 missed FGs Crazy game. AFC North at it's "finest"
  6. This has to be the longest 7-6 first half in NFL history.
  7. 34 downtown for the low. Quite foggy earlier but it's burning off quickly. All of the Pittsburgh stations are talking snow here later this week.
  8. Went to the Pitt - Clemson game this afternoon before the Steelers and Ravens tomorrow. As much as I criticize James Franklin...there's always Pat Narduzzi to outdo him. Pitt had 1st and goal from the 2 in the 3rd quarter and ended up getting 3 consecutive delay of game or procedure calls before another snap. Never seen anything like it.
  9. The guys who should be leading the way are not only not producing, but even worse...not putting out the effort needed. Case in point - Wednesday night was the best game they played so far this season. And look who wasn't available...
  10. Thank goodness for Jared McCain. What a breath of fresh air amongst the stench that is the Philadelphia 76ers.
  11. This was a really bad take on my part - ended up with .07" of rainfall. Not a lot, but more than nothing. Temp was 37 when I left for work.
  12. Pretty good chance I'll finish this event without a drop of rainfall. Wasn't expecting much at all...but thought I'd get something. MU was right. Again. From this morning: MU Weather Center @MUweather Light rain will overspread northern MD and the LSV from SW-to-NE between 1:30 to 6 PM this afternoon, but it’s running into very dry air and high pressure over New England. I still don’t expect much east of Rt. 11 and the Susquehanna River. The rain will be largely beneficial.
  13. Funny you mention this- MU had hours at 49 today but never once hit 50!
  14. Not sure how often I've seen this: URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service State College PA 316 PM EST Thu Nov 14 2024 PAZ051>053-057>059-066-151230- /O.NEW.KCTP.FW.A.0003.241116T1400Z-241116T2300Z/ Montour-Northumberland-Columbia-Dauphin-Schuylkill-Lebanon- Lancaster- 316 PM EST Thu Nov 14 2024 ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON FOR EAST CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA... 15. 100% agree - way more accurate than the average bank thermometer, even at night when they're not exposed to sun.
  16. Exactly. There was a night after the Blizzard of 2016 that the temp at one point was 3 at my house and -8 at the airport 2/10s of a mile down the road.
  17. I remember your comment quite well. And this was not the first time that I've mentioned an anomaly coming through that area. It really is kind of cool...literally and figuratively. I watch my car thermometer all the time. I obsess over my thermometer on good radiational cooling nights as well as times when I'm driving and wintry weather is approaching. My biggest weather obsession? Evenings when it starts clear and then clouds over in advance of a pending snowstorm. I want it to stay clear long enough for it to get cold. I know once it gets cloudy that the temp will level off or even start rising depending on the winds. Same thing applies to early mornings - I want clouds to move in FAST to cap the temp rise. So, the sky is my real obsession. Those little nuances mean a LOT for those of us who often ride the line temp-wise during winter storms.
  18. Hey, sorry - I was offline most of the day as my wife and I traveled to NYC to pick up family at JFK last evening. More and more I'm starting to believe in the Chester County microclimate...the temp on our way home last night ranged from 42 on Staten Island to as low as 25 at about 10:30pm (25!) near the Peter J. Camiel Service Plaza on the Turnpike. (northern Chester County) We finally got home just before midnight and it was 31 at home. As soon as we got on 222 south the temp was 30 or above the rest of the way home. It was only in the 20s in Chester County...and mid 20s at that...
  19. Makes complete sense with clouds advancing from the west.
  20. First really good, hard freeze of the season at home. Low bottomed out at 26.7, the temp was in the 20s for nearly 5 hours. Up to 30.3 now.
  21. And tomorrow night will be all about the timing of the arrival of clouds. Could be a night when temps are already near freezing prior to midnight but then might hold steady or slowly rise from there.
  22. Speaking of which, I still have a big pot of Geraniums out in our front yard that still look really good considering I've had 4 sub-freezing mornings including one day when it was in the 20s. I also have a tomato plant that had tomatoes ripening up last week!
  23. I've spent a lot of time this year thinking about this and things related to it. I turn 60 in 10 months. I don't know why, but I never flinched at hitting 40, 50, or any other subsequent years in my 50s. The understanding that I'll be 60 though...I'm struggling with it. Things that seemed to matter a lot in years past are starting to become increasingly less significant and things that I always took for granted are now becoming more valued, and more urgent. Most of my "circle" in life from the time I was young is also a fair amount older than I am. As an only child I tended to gravitate towards those older than I was to "show me the way" so to speak. And now many in my circle are retired and all of a sudden...well, life priorities are changing quickly. People matter a whole lot more than material things, sports, etc. Those can be replaced or removed. Relationships cannot.
  24. Yes we did. And that's why I sort of feel like it's inevitable that forecasters are going to get burnt sooner than later. (us "lucking" into something good)
