  1. You won't regret it - the Sierra in California is stunning. You'll be close (couple of hours) to Yosemite which is breathtaking but also incredibly packed with people. There's a direct highway from the LA Basin straight to an exit in the Sierra that's only about 5 miles from Mammoth. From memory it takes about 5 hours to get there, but the change in scenery from LA to the Sierra is unforgettable. A YouTube video is easily found online for the entire drive.
  2. We stayed in what's called "The Village" which is why I often link that specific webcam here. It's in very close proximity to the gondola station. There are actually 2 separate gondolas in Mammoth - one is essentially a touristy thing that takes you from the Village to one of the lodges. It's completely free, and it's the one you see in the cams. It was fine. The 2nd takes you from Mammoth's main lodge to the 11.053' summit. It costs close to $40/person. We LOVED that ride! The views at the top were incredible. And the snow in mid May was still well over 150" in depth. (It was nearly 100" at the base, lol)
  3. Yes - he's releasing a new one likely tomorrow after cleaning up from this blizzard. Here's his first video of the season after last week's storm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86dpgRYjOas *By the way - notice that he has front doors on his house on both levels so that he can exit once the bottom half of his house disappears.
  4. Meanwhile - my goodness do I ever miss this place: https://www.mammothmountain.com/on-the-mountain/mammoth-webcam/the-village
  5. We have become so accustomed to AN temps that days like today almost feel "normal"...even though they are not. At least not compared to long-term averages.
  6. It was harden to watch, as sixers fans we know how to maxeymize suckage.
  7. 34, but quite frosty when I left home this morning.
  8. They are an embarrassment. Interesting contrast between Philly's 2 big winter teams - one has talent but very little heart. The other has minimal talent but plays it's ass off every night. I know which team gets my money.
  9. PG was a Clipper last year. Speaking of Clippers, they're in town this evening.
  10. I'll second that. Some of us, me more than others love to share other met's thoughts in here. But our own met is better than all of them.
  11. Boomer Sooner! Now let's see how we can get a 3 loss Bama team into the playoffs...
  12. MU continues to pound the holidays for the LSV next chance of wintry precip of any consequence. Doesn't like next week at all.
  13. My intuition, which honestly is usually very good, told me that today was going to be either a close win or a demoralizing loss. I was hedging on the latter - relieved to leave Minny with a W. They better run the Terps out of town next week. That team is a trainwreck right now.
  14. Same sensible weather here as your report, with .36" of total QPF.
  15. He has been amazing. Incredible poise and confidence for a 20 year old. My biased disdain for Embiid aside, it's interesting how much more confident that McCain is in crunch time compared to Embiid. McCain wants the ball AND delivers.
  16. Already ruled out again for Sunday. I honestly feel bad for people who invested a crap ton of money on this team. Meanwhile, Caleb Martin is out there running his ass off with a hand on his injured back.
  17. Will MDT finish the 2024-25 winter season with more snowfall in inches than Joel Embiid's number of games played? I'll take the former.
  18. @Mount Joy Snowman in my quest to see snow on the ground, I made the short 15 minute drive to Sam Lewis. It did not disappoint. It's a winter wonderland up here.
