  1. Spectacular light show
  2. Was some gusty winds but more of a hot steamy deluge of rain, making it even more humid. Another batch incoming..
  3. High 93 here, still 91 now with a t storm incoming. 9th 90+ of July and 12 for the season. All 90 - 93, except one.
  4. Temp up to 93, dew 74, HI 103. Getting the most sunshine of the day now.
  5. ..soon as I say that the sun emerges smh.
  6. Relative to the media coverage it's not that bad. Stuffy yes, but I've endured more uncomfortable days this month. Basically overcast now but still 91.
  7. 89 dew 73, feels like 97
  8. Heat advisory is for 95 - 99 for 2 consecutive days or 100 - 104 for any length of time. Excessive heat warning is for 105+ for at least 2 consecutive hours.
  9. NWS upped forecast to 100. Those consecutive lows in the mid 60s afterwards may be more impressive though.
  10. In a downpour. Couldn't make it through as a rain free weekend. Looks like just a Bronx, Southern Westchester special. A lot of thunder too. Got to 90 before the rain. Still a nice weekend overall.
  11. Yeah many warm memories from that crazy month. I remember riding my bike from the Bronx to Astoria in a t shirt and shorts just before Christmas.
  12. Mostly sunny and 87. Blowing past forecast highs with all this sunshine.
  13. Yeah what is this..I woke up and it's a whole new forecast, or am I getting my days mixed up.
  14. Flash flood warning. NYC (except SI), southern Westchester, Southern Fairfield, CT, northern Nassau
  15. Doesn't even look like the sea breeze is limiting temps very much.
  16. Yeah got super dark then 15 -20 min t storm, now breaks of sun with light rain continuing. Was quite the deluge. Quickly picked up 0.60"
  17. JFK 84 with dew up to 77 feel like 94
  18. Briefly touched 90 earlier, which makes heat wave. Now 87 but the humidity is back..dew 73, Feels like 94
  19. That's the most common definition I've seen but it does vary by region. I don't think there is a set offical scientific number across the board. Whatever a region considers "abnormally hot" According to the NWS.. "What is a heat wave? A heat wave is a period of abnormally hot weather generally lasting more than two days. Heat waves can occur with or without high humidity..." I'd agree 3 days isn't that remarkable now. For the Park maybe a little bit. But EWR, LGA and other mid atlantic cities it's not a huge deal.
  20. I was at Long Beach, LI on Sat and the sports watch I was wearing was saying 78 - 79 water temp. Felt remarkably warmer then a couple weeks before. Once we got into the persistent high humidity stretch with onshore flow they took off. They say saying we are nearing 40 - 50% of the world's ocean in marine heat wave status. FL been setting records with water temps well into the 90s, and 97 around the Keys. I've swam in upper 80s to just around 90, I can't imagine upper 90s water temps. Pushing 80 here before Aug and without the help of an intense heat wave is impressive.
  21. 92..high of 93. Doesn't feel so bad though with lower dews
  22. Bring on the mid morning heat. 90 dew 72 feel like 98
  23. Reached a surprising 95. Finally a day with no clouds from t storms in the area or smoke in the sky probably helps. Down to 85 now.
  24. 94/70 dp. Dew point was falling slowly, now back on the rise.
  25. High of 91 here. Now a muggy 85/72. Occasional dark clouds in the distance but no rain.
