  1. My ac is really struggling at moment. It already isnt that great when we have 95+ with 75+ dews.
  2. Con ed turned off power to 30,000 BK customers to prevent a much larger outage. Also some areas of reduced voltage, and asking customers in parts of the Bx to reduce usage as much as possible.
  3. Yeah I was kind of amazed at the sky, a purple to orange hue outside. Dont remember seeing it look quite like that before
  4. Maybe they will hold on. For now 95/76/108 with rumbles of thunder in the bx.
  5. The first one is fizzling out. Doesnt look like anything east of Paterson. A little more behind that one though. If nothing else its sending some increasing cloudiness this way.
  6. Severe T storm warning in northern NJ. I can see the towering clouds to the west
  7. I also suspect they like the wooded location in The Park because it's not that obvious to passerbys who made be tempted to vandalize it. In an open field its be very tempting in such a populated area. Did LGA hit 100 btwn hrs?
  8. 85/76/ 95 650am. Low 84 Damm LGA bearly squeak below 90 as of 6am
  9. Down slightly but still 90/78/103. Hot plus UHI as a bonus
  10. It is horrible outside. Why do I feel more uncomfortable outside now than in the daytime. Heat index still in the low 100s. Last update LGA still 93. The Park 90, JFK 89
  11. Those torrential downpours few days ago killed the chances.
  12. Yeah, I think dews are hard to measure exactly. Also, the biggest difference probably is most pws are in someone's backyard surrounded by vegetation or vegetable gardens etc. That said, in those same conditions I never seen much 78-80 dew until last few years. So even if it isnt exact to the degree, the trend is real.
  13. It helps it's not a weekday with office bldgs filled with ppl working and running ac.
  14. 10am NYC 87/73 HI 94 LGA 90/72 HI 97 JFK 90/78 HI 104 EWR 91/74 HI 100
  15. 86/77 HI 96 at 830am. Low was 82. Heat index 100+ until after midnight and never below 90.
  16. Is it really the heat? Either way I decided to take the ferry to the bx which turned out to be an excellent call.
  17. The Park is 90 for 6pm obs. LGA is 92 Barely made it.
  18. Just got to 90 NY Botanical garden nearby was 91/80. HI 109. I find their obs fairly reliable over the yrs.
  19. Technically it may not be a heat wave for some, unless we get a early evening small bump in temp. It will be a hot stretch overall with a break in the middle yday.
  20. NWS forecast here has heat index as high as 113 on Sat and 115 on Sun
  21. I think it was about right. It was cloudy and a few showers. I got up to 76 but spent a good chunk of the time in the low 70s and a breezy E to NE wind. LGA was only 78. That's why I was shocked to see JFK was 86. The wind went southerly and/or the sun came out down there? It was a back door kind of day N and NE of midtown it seems. Curious how hot it gets today, need to climb nearly 25 degrees to meet current forecasts and that's with an overcast start. Not that I necessarily doubt it, but it's a ways to go.
  22. Wow I didnt realize how warm it got at most locations. JFK was 86? The sun came out in Queens apparently. It's actually feel kinda chilly outside 70 dew 69 with a little gusty east wind
