  1. Was thinking the same thing. Using NWS I see mid and upper 80s except 83 on Sat. Two nights in the upper 60s as well. To be fair what does a early Aug cool down look like? As much as I can remember, the only way I know to hold temps to "cool" levels in early Aug is clouds and showers. It's a break in humidity that makes it relatively "cool"
  2. Doesnt look like its moving at all either. Its dry looking down toward City Hall but I see rain just few blocks north and midtown is completely obscured in heavy rain now
  3. Heavy rain more so on the west side of Manhattan with hail (30 stories up at least). Looking east on the lighter side with breaks of sun.
  4. ..looks like its raining over the hudson river actually but dry in Manhattan itself
  5. I can see toward SI, NJ I dont much going on that looks severe from this vantage point. I will find out in a few..
  6. Severe t storm warning Hudson, NE Union, SE Essex counties, Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn.
  7. Sunshine with light rain out of nowhere in lower Manhattan
  8. All of the reasons everyone has mentioned is probably why most major cities just use the airports. Could be tough to find a place with enough space to have an acceptable sitting, yet safe and protected from vandals and other interference. The sheep meadow would be nice but imagine permanently closing that to the public lol. I don't think vandalism at the castle would be as much of a problem now as it was back then anyway. They probably could put it back with little issue. The current site can be easily vandalized too but that doesnt seem to be a problem. I wonder, they cant get permission from the city to trim the trees around it? Maybe cut down a couple all together. It wouldnt be perfect but itd be an improvement and wouldnt involve breaking the continuity by moving the site. They could offer to pay for the planting of a few new trees elsewhere to make up for it.
  9. I'll be in ocean city, MD later this week, I'll see what its like there. Also, dont know if it's related but the water in lower Manhattan around wall st, south st seaport etc is higher than usual today. Its actually spilling over in spots on to the area under the FDR btwn the seaport and ferry terminals. Tourists splashing around in little waves of ankle deep water...not something I'd recommend..
  10. Heat advisory tomorrow for NYC for 2nd consecutive day of 95+ heat indexes
  11. Do you know how long those conditions expected to last? Is it more on south facing shores of LI, or basically the same along the east coast in general?
  12. Just hit 90 here. Dew 71..but probably inflated b/c of a very saturated backyard
  13. High of 84 but dropped real quick to 71 with rain and a Flood advisory here. Sunshine and 80s maybe 10 blocks south.
  14. Windy around the whitestone br. storm mainly along and north of fordham rd/pelham pkwy. Watch out around orchard beach, city island and adjacent waters.
  15. Sunshine with some brief drizzle/showers from time to time the last 30 mins. Theres a t storm around into upper manhattan, NW Bx. Has a special weather statement on it headed across the bx toward the Sound.
  16. I know right. Got to 66 here. Coolest temp of the month.
  17. Was in an uber with some flash flooding, the usual spots, bx river pkwy etc but some unusual ones too like a fast moving river down white plains rd. Been pretty relentless torrential downpours.
  18. Top of a ferry up the east river lots of lightning mainly to the NW. Also LGA has dissapeared in a matter of mins in a downpour. Headed into some rain now. Breathtaking vantage point of t storms all around but stayed dry overhead until the turn past the Triboro btwn LGA and the Bx
  19. Dew points getting up near 80 again, after missing a shower the suns back with oppressive humidity
  20. Never thought about that. I always attributed it to LGA getting more marine air on a NE wind right off the Sound, keeping it cooler. That's usually the few scenarios where i'd may be cooler than the Park, espically in Spring. Central Park, and espically JFK ends up the warmer places on a NE wind.
  21. The early heat wave predictions had a drop off but still continuing into Mon. Original outlook turning out more accurate.
