  1. It'll be interesting to see how that unfolds. Its forecast to strengthen back to cat 2 overnight, and maintain 100mph winds as it reaches Nova Scotia area. They have it still hurricane status as it emerges into the waters north of NS. Interested to see how long it hold it tropical classification, regardless of strength, as it makes it way to through the Canadian Martimes
  2. Some rain in lower Manhattan, looking more substantial looking toward SI, Sandy Hook. Breezy raw day
  3. Sun broke out a little but theres another batch of rain incoming, if not on top of you now. Hopefully brief.
  4. I see 180 mph now. Either way its catastrophic. Pressure down to 912mb. How many hurricanes have actually made landfall at 175+. As opposed to storms that have achieved such level but are at least somewhat weaker at landfall.
  5. Dorian up to 175 mph winds as it approaching the Bahamas. Strengthening as it making landfall not a good thing.
  6. Got to 88 then passing cloudiness cap things off. Down to 86 now
  7. I've heard bad things about LI tap water, especially pollutants seeping into the water supply from septic tanks etc which the sandy soils there don't hold as well. Where is LI getting its water supply from? I assume not from the upstate reservoirs that serve NYC.
  8. 71 now, matching the high for today. Dew point is 70 now so doesnt feel so fall like anymore.
  9. I agree. It feels even cooler than that with some clouds, low humidity and windy. Doesnt have to be oppressive heat, but I'd like a little more warmth before the season is over. Or even these temps with a touch more humidity and light wind would feel more summer like but still comfortable. Probably an un popular opinion but I like to get the most out of all seasons.
  10. Quite cool out, temp down to 64. Coolest temp since June.
  11. While there has always been people trying to clear land in the Amazon, the new president of Brazil has created an environment more permissive of it, allowing such actions to go more unchecked. He has a more anti environmental regulation stance in general.
  12. I was riding a bike, on a whim checked the radar and saw a bow of storms closing in on me. Booked it for 15 mins and beat it by 30 secs. Lots of lightning pouring rain wind now.
  13. It look like it was coming this way then just disappeared. Edge of t storm overhead.
  14. Just north of that..just a light hazy sun shower 85/76 HI 94.
  15. Yeah got nothing working in lower Manhattan, but the Bx looks soaked. This summer I always get hit at home. All the times there has been a 30% chance of t storms, it's actually happened I'd guess 85% of the time.
  16. Ah I missed it while at the beach, Robert Moses. so foggy over there took a long time to burn off, but turned out nice when it finally did. Everyone talking about this t storm that came through at home. No rain now, but lots of lightning in the distance.
  17. 85 after a high of 86. Felt a little more like summer today but still near perfect imo. Some highs in SE NYS.
  18. Yeah, backyard is looking like a out of control rain forest here. Very lush. Last 14 days total precip, Bx Mesonet is 2nd wettest in the state.
