  1. A little ironic remnants of a Tropical system here on the same day. Also yday a loose crane was spinning around in midtown sending chunks of metal to the street, reminds me of the damaged crane during Sandy.
  2. 37, sleet and a few snow flakes mixing in not long ago in the Bronx. Driving a few miles to New Rochelle now and just light rain. I'm moving here now, right on the Sound so I'll see how that changes things.
  3. yup..I remember getting down to about 34, with 4" of snow/slop on grassy surfaces, trees etc. with an inch or 2 on pavement at times when it came down really hard. The heavy snow was relentless that's the only way it managed to acclumate. I couldn't believe my eyes, especially the tress mostly still full of green leaves covered in snow. Then it was gone soon after it stopped. It seem like over a foot of snow fell if it were able to all stick. One of the more surreal weather experiences, before I knew what the decade ahead had in store.
  4. That sounds about right to me. NYC usually lags behind, then the foilage starts to really ramp up headed to Halloween, peaking in early Nov. The UHI ends up with shorter window to see real fall colors
  5. Breaks of sun here now. Days got switched it seems. Yday was suppose to be the day with most breaks of sun, I saw none. Today is suppose to be almost no chance, and sunshine is breaking through now.
  6. Mild morning but temps havent moved much since. Still struggling to 70. NWS forecast of 79 seems like a long shot. A nice day still but relative to forecasts a little disappointing.
  7. Mostly sunny 55, low was 49, same as yday. Not so bad in direct sun but I could do without the 28 dewpoint.
  8. I thought Denver had a shot but that blowout was shocking. I think Lakers in 6 though.
  9. Air quality is still considered good. The smoke is too high to affect air quality at the surface. At least that is the offical forecast. For me the cooler, and espically drier air recently is an asthma trigger.
  10. Quite chilly am. Mostly cloudy/hazy, breezy 51. First 50s went way down to near 50. Cooler than I excpected. Some upper 40s made it down to just about the westchester Bx line. Had to go searching for a hoodie. Cant remember last time I wore a long sleeve shirt.
  11. Anyone noticed an increase in mosquitos? Since late Aug its been an explosion of them here. Not only in parks and yards etc, but I'm getting bit the hell up in the middle of busy streets. The city suppose to be spraying large areas in the bx today, esp south and eastern portions.
  12. Centered in Freehold NJ. 3.1. Reports it was felt from south NJ to SI, Brooklyn & Queens.
  13. Large junkyard fire in Hunts Point. South wind is sending smoke and hazy skies miles north at least to Westchester county line, esp on the Yonkers/Mt Vernon side. Teterboro is offically reporting Smoke and 76* Smoke/Haze here, 75 with chemical smokey smell in the air
  14. I notice its not that uncommon to see that. More in July and August though. You see it at DCA too (but not today).
  15. Turning out to be a quite warm afternoon. Partly sunny 84/73. Also got my internet and cable back after t storm couple days ago
  16. Intense storm, lightning almost non stop with more storms lined up behind.
  17. Current and high temp of 93, dew 69 Hazy sunshine, dark clouds looking north.
  18. pretty impressive, torrential rainfall windy, with about 5 mins of very powerful wind gusts that took down some tree branches, a few of which may of been weakened already.
  19. Came through here, very brief burst of heavy rain and it was gone, no wind.
  20. Cloudy 89, after a high of 93. 31st of the year. Basically following LGA, but a little less 95+ days. Looking back, mid July to early Aug was almost wall to wall 90s. 7/24, and 7/31 broke up what would of been a super heat wave.
  21. Windy, mostly cloudy, mild day at robert moses. At home now its another world. Hardly any breeze..sunny and hot high was 91, 30 days for the year.
