  1. This looks more like 8-16” to me than 6-12”. As BuffaloWeather said with ratios I see almost all of BUF CWA seeing warning criteria. Think they will issue watches tomorrow morning if everything continues to look good with today and tonight’s runs.
  2. If this week happens as it looks now this winter instantly goes down as at least a solid B in my book with the potential for even higher if we get a blockbuster in March or April. We started off super slow but had a great week right after Christmas which was awesome timed right around the holidays. After how good the last several weeks have been both in the snowfall department and the sustained cold and snow depth department this next week would make this month one to remember and bring us close to average after being so far behind as late as mid to late January.
  3. Lake Erie sure doesn’t look 80+ percent ice covered to me based on today’s satellite image. Posted by the NWS BUF Twitter page.
  4. 10:1 ... where do I sign? Kuchie has gotta be 50+ lmao
  5. No idea. Best guess is that the dendrites were so perfect it just stacked up beautifully. Literally pure fluff. Probably 25:1 stuff.
  6. Looking at cameras it looks like another 1.6” on the board since I cleared it so 4.8” total for the event in Amherst. Solid for sure and way more than the forecasted 1-2”. Back to 11” OTG. Deep winter rolls on.
  7. Just did. On driveway and on snowboard. 3.0” exactly on driveway , was definitley 3.2” on snowboard. Even I was surprised lol.
  8. Just measured. More than it looked. 3.2” and coming down nicely!
  9. Very nice steady snow falling with nice flake size. Eyeballing 2 inches or so overnight. Dink and dunk
  10. Yep my fiancé’s dad just got the 2nd covid shot and it put him on his ass so bad he was wishing he didn’t even take it and he’s a tough guy. The first shot he felt great and had no symptoms or reactions what so ever.
  11. Look at the dates. That 1.6” number is from yesterday morning before the band made its way up here. Most of the low numbers are from yesterday morning not this morning. I ended up with 8.7” from the lake effect and another 2.8” this morning for a total of 11.5” in the last 48 hours or so. Up to 56.6” on the season and would only need another 25-30” to hit seasonal average for this area so definitely doable if we can have a good week this week and get almost half that.
  12. Yep just measured 2” on the dot here and it’s coming down beautifully. Huge flakes falling nice and steadily to the ground with little wind. Best it’s looked outside all year. About 10-11” depth!
  13. At work in Hamburg so living through you guys to see what it’s like back at home. Fiancé says 8-9” in Amherst and ripping snow.
  14. That northern band is toast and that southern band is not going to make it this far north. I think S Cheektowaga, maybe the airport is as far north as that one will get. That southern band is looking great though and has been absolutely pounding WS for the last 1 hr +
  15. Yeah eyeballing looks like about 3-4” total here. Not impressed at all. Honestly Batavia looks to be in the best spot as that’s where the two bands are converging.
  16. Sometimes we do okay on the single intense bands that oscillate (like the day after Xmas event this season). Band is focused on the southtowns but temporarily lifts north into the Northtowns and even Niagara County for a bit before dropping slowly back south and we get to see it a few times. I got a foot with that event. I’m not sure we will even see half that with this event. One thing for sure is even without snow falling there is very low visibility at times driving around with those winds.
  17. You are right looking at lower level WV there was a small pocket of dry air that just moved overhead. Looks like it’s moving off to our east now so hopefully things will come back soon. However if these winds don’t calm down this new band(s) is going to be just as disorganized as the first. 40-60mph will shred that thing to pieces.
  18. It looks like what popping back up again over the middle of the lake is going to be 2 bands again. This event blows (literally haha).
  19. No, winds are still ripping. Port Colborne just had a gust to 59mph in the last few minutes. BUF still gusting to 40. Probably close to 50 on the lake front.
  20. I don’t see any way that anyone in this band hits anywhere near 18” unless the winds die way down and this thing can consolidate. The band is just too cellular and swinging all over like a firehose. I think the upper limit of this storm is more like 12”. Would be happy to be wrong though.
  21. And watch the band just to our south on NYS Thruway Cams lmao!
  22. Hell I’d be happy with 6” of wind driven snow at this point. Our snowpack survived the “thaw” pretty good yesterday and we still have a good 4” of glacier pack. Give me 6” of wind driven snow on top and I’ll take my chances with all the possible scenarios next week and be a happy camper.
