  1. Garden needed tending to, completely in the shade at this time of day, but I am now soaked.
  2. Pouring so hard here on Capitol Hill it's coming through the transom above my back door. Yay. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  3. I was downtown during an absolute monsoon at about 3:15 pm (after a previous cloudburst about 45 minutes earlier). Came home to Capitol Hill and apparently it's only ever drizzled here.
  4. My one-year badge just a few months ahead of my 11th anniversary!
  5. Oh sure, it goes right over my house and I'm 2,000 miles away.
  6. That cool radar-based rainfall totals map someone looked to recently shows that, as I suspected, I was right in the line of the heaviest rain, though about six blocks to the west of the deepest purples. Estimates 2.84" for me, and I believe it. Just poured and poured. Rushing rivers of water in the gutters, which I don't remember seeing very often. One really close lightning strike, but otherwise mainly just a great light show.
  7. Keeping an eye on the clouds (and the radar) to the northwest from my seat at Nats Park.
  8. Yeah, I see now that it looks like a Burke Special.
  9. Looks like DC proper is about to make up for yesterday's whiff.
  10. That's what always makes them especially enjoyable.
  11. I would not be unhappy with an evening batch of rain, because I'm just not that enthused about heading to Nats Park at night in damp 50-degree weather.
  12. Brother near River Road and Goldsboro reporting heavy rain, lightning, and very gusty winds.
  13. Basically right southwest of my house the Manassas cell stopped moving northeast and shifted to eastward and I got a five-minute downpour with gusty winds.
  14. I think I might actually be in a good spot. Or it'll slide just to my north.
  15. Uh... Sometime in the past four hours my yard became littered with little deep round holes in the mulch. These are not the bird-and-squirrel-digging holes that I am used to seeing. (These aren't the only ones, just were the easiest to photograph together)
  16. I've seen two above ground in the past week here on the Hill, and inadvertently dug up some in recent weeks. It's funny, though--i lived in MoCo in 1987 and the cicadas were just unbelievable--but I don't have any memories of Brood X here on the southeast side of the Hill in 2004. Maybe I just wasn't outside as much. I'll be interested to see if that line on the map has maybe moved a bit closer to my area, especially compared to north and west.
  17. I got clobbered by my second Pfizer dose. Total exhaustion, body aches, etc. Day 2 and a little into Day 3.

  19. Sure has gotten dark here on the Hill, though.
  20. From yesterday, for whoever it was that said they'd get their laptop and head to the patio.... (Kind of in-between flowering now--azaleas and phlox finishing up, waiting on the cranesbill/perennial geraniums near the edge to get started. Peonies well sprouted as well. And the narrowleaf blue star shoots seem to have the beginnings of buds on them. Also hoping that the siberian irises that were put in back in summer 2019 might actually bloom this year (I've read it can take a few years, so fingers remained crossed.) Also, @Mrs.J, the gnome setup is fabulous!
  21. Thank you! Though my phlox has nothing on some of the houses in the next block, which have retaining walls that are about five feet high--cascades of phlox in various colors coming down some of them.
