    Quite the T&L show (with rain blowing off the roofs of nearby buildings) at 13th and K.

    I'm in that area near the SE Fwy where the radar has lightened up a little, and thank goodness. Still having quite the light show though. Not sure if that blob over Alexandria is going to rotate my way. Also thank goodness there isn't much wind with all of this.

    Rivers of water in the street gutters but also along the brick sidewalk. Grass between sidewalk and curb now a lake. A time I am glad to literally live on a Hill. This is crazy rain.

    Ditto on the not much wind but crazy close lightning strikes and really loud and long rumbles of thunder. And just saw a long lightning bolt flash, and another, probably hitting by the Anacostia.

    I remember the summer of 1980 so well! I guess having an August birthday makes me a little more focused on my sense of its weather over the years.

    Is there anything in the recordkeeping that shows what longtime residents myself and my father have been sensing, that August in DC is not as awful as it used to be, or at least as it was in the 70s and 80s? Seems like the first signposts of summer's end (even if there's still plenty of warm days ahead) come earlier than they used to.
