  1. Alas, the Earth Cams are no match for both a derecho and a storm-watching public.
  2. My yard is soooooooo happy after last night. DC proper doesn't seem to get training like that during the summer much anymore.
  3. ETA: Sorry, missed that it was posted up-thread.
  4. Someone posted on Twitter about 10 minutes ago that they were seeing flurries in Adams Morgan.
  5. Sun peeking out on Capitol Hill. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  6. I'm looking at my Nest feed to see how much my plants at home are enjoying this. Had my front yard entirely redone (all new plants) in *early August*. It's rained like this maybe once between then and now.
  7. The sidewalks are wet! Including underneath the trees! Amazing! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  8. After a bureaucratic delay, my completely revamped garden was installed during that worst heatwave in August. And I think it's rained here appreciably once since then. I keep getting notifications from DC Water about how much my usage has skyrocketed. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  9. Jeff Morrow putting in an appearance on TWC!
  10. I just want to go on record as saying that Dorian is a great name for a storm. Very retro. Donna, Carol, Hazel, Agnes, Dorian.... Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  11. Looks like a more "normal" line of storms than what we've seen over the past week. Moving nice and fast.
  12. I saw a lightning bolt headed ground-ward right after before that huge boom, which I heard at Franklin Square. The lightning bolt was to the WSW, like, toward the White House, so different from that cell. Still having thunder and lightning at Franklin Square, and dark clouds, but sunshine and no rain.
  13. I might get spit on for a minute or two here on the Hill. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  14. Poured rain for about a minute at Nats Park at the end of the 3rd, apparently, but here, about eight blocks away, nothing. Bright sun now, though, so hopefully some more to come.
  15. I see the current radar has chosen to back up MLB. This time. [emoji1]
  16. Nats game postponed by MLB. Ergo, it will not rain at Nats Park.
  17. That storm I sat through off River Road yesterday evening that was not forecast and was "just" a pop-up cell and was one of the most intense storms I've seen. Even without a watch issued.
  18. I'm in a spot with huge panoramic windows looking north and west, and this might be the most amazing storm I've ever seen. Certainly up there with the derecho.
  19. I have been sitting smack in the middle of this insane storm for 20 minutes now, on River Road just outside the Beltway. Crazy lightning, wind changing direction multiple times, etc. Wow.
  20. Car thermometer hit 104 on the SE/SW Freeway, dropped to 102 as I hit Virginia, then got down to 84 as I went out the GW Parkway and hot the spots where it had just rained.
  21. I only now am seeing your posts about your trip to SD/WY. My mother's family were among the initial white settlers in Hulett, near Devils Tower. I still own some of the property the family homesteaded in 1913. You chose a great area to escape to!
  22. Yes. The fact that the sky can be blue instead of white during humid days is so completely different from the late 1970s and 1980s around here.
  23. Where is that big blob on the SE side of DC moving? (radar hallucinations come in summer, too)
