  1. Subarus and Volvos... yep. LOL They are OK in snow with their AWD, but I prefer a truck and/or truck-based SUV to handle something like a rutted mud road.
  2. We can just print another couple trillion dollars to cover all of that. It'll be fine, I'm sure. Everything is just fine out there, indeed!
  3. My worst hangover came from grapefruit IPAs. I felt like I had been poisoned. LOL Not for me.
  4. October and November are OK here as a shoulder season. I have had some really nice days in both months, especially when it's dry. April and May mostly suck though. I head back to MD and DE those months. Pretty much terrible up here. I walked out a bit into the field today with a contractor doing some work on the house and was sinking in. It's a disgusting pit out there. A swamp, basically. I'm sure the bugs will be breeding soon. It'll get better by mid-June.
  5. I am having AC installed here now. There are like 2-3 weeks of the season where it is just unbearable here without it. The humidity is what does it, really.
  6. It can only get better next winter, right? Right??
  7. Just pushing the underlying problem around to somewhere else (in this case towards the already sky-high budget shortfalls in most states).
  8. "...it sucked ass." "Grandpa you said a bad word!!!" "Not the worst word I could have said, kids. Now go bother grandma."
  9. Wish we could skip right to 75 and sunny now, but I know we have another 2 months of this stuff. It honestly feels like we have been in April mode since mid-Feb.
  10. Did next to nothing, really. Didn't precipitate much. When I woke up there was some sleet on the ground and ice on the trees but that didn't last long.
  11. Survival will require support from a small, tight-knit community. A tribe, essentially. People who live in more rural settings and have a strong network of friends and family to rely on will have a better chance. Cities and dense suburbs will become vast fields of death and violence very quickly. There is no sense of tribe in those places and way, way too many mouths to feed in a scenario like this. It will be total pandemonium.
  12. About as crappy as weather can get right now. 32.5 degree drizzle.
  13. It looks pretty good, IMO. Euro is close to 2" liquid of various types of frozen precip here between now and next Tuesday.
  14. Actually the best conditions of the last couple weeks, IMO.
  15. Models are printing out a truckload of ZR and sleet here. We'll see. I am always really skeptical of major ice events. They bust more than 2 foot snowstorms, IMO. Rain at 31.5 will not be a major ice deal here even if the models are insisting it will be. Solar input is really strong right now. Hopefully by some miracle it's more snow here than progged. Sleet is useless.
  16. Until you sign the final loan documents with the bank of your choice, you can change whenever you want. A pre-approval letter does not lock you into anything. Treat a bank like you'd treat a car dealer. You would have no issue walking out of a car dealership even up to the point they take you into the little room to talk to the sales manager, right? A bank is no different. You can and should shop around between banks. God knows there are a million of them out there now. I give this advice out all the time because it seems people are kinda scared of banks and think they are somehow more powerful than any other business selling a service. The banks like to cultivate this myth by using very official-sounding language and documentation for every little thing. Just watch your own interests and you will be fine.
  17. There is private land at 5800’ on Mt Washington? Must be an old property deed from 150 years ago.
  18. Been getting light snow here for the last few hours. A dusting. Down to 25 so colder air is moving in.
  19. 26 here. Hoping more white than wet during the ‘rhea period.
  20. I would prefer to be 3000 feet up from here.
