Hospital capacity in the vast majority of the US outside a tiny segment is way underutilized right now. Hospitals are laying off staff due to lack of patients. The initial push from Cuomo and others that we needed a bazillion ventilators turned out to be wildly unrealistic and the governors have already started moving away from that idea.

We are missing tons and tons of cases. There are some early serological test results coming in from around the world now and it shows there is a huge part of the iceberg underwater. Using these hospitalization numbers is like polling a prison and then saying 20% of the US population commits violent assaults on the regular.

This number is next to useless without knowing total infected (AKA, the denominator).

And the hospitalization rate is greatly affected by self-selection bias. Only the sickest people go to the ER and test positive, and, of that cohort, some percentage is admitted. It's not 17% of every single person with COVID-19...

Yeah, we all ski. Kids are just getting into it so should be fun. We plan to be there as much of the fall and winter as possible. We have a place in southern Delaware at the beaches too so that sucks up most of the summers.

It was dripping like crazy under that deck when the guys sent me a video this morning. Sounded like it was raining. Strong sun and facing south. The front of the house is still socked in deeply. Looked like a foot of snow to me in spots early this morning on the sunny side, though. I wasn't there to measure unfortunately. I have a video of the north side of the house coming down the driveway through the wooded area and it looks like a foot easy to me. -

Oh yeah, the sickness is real. I had access to a place in Oakland, MD but I still wanted more snow. And they can have some great winters with over 100 inches and long cold stretches.

No worries, great rundown. There have been several really insightful posts in this thread. It's not an exaggeration to say you guys literally guided me to where to buy. The passion in this forum for snow, cold, and great towns is obvious. Glad I get to be on the inside now versus outside looking in.

Yep, that’s what we saw this week. Before this last snow, very patchy on the south exposure, buried on the north exposure.

LOL yeah I know. We looked all over. Once we saw this we pounced on it, after the snow report check with ORH of course.

Seems like Portland is same amount of time too. I have done the MHT drive before, but not the Portland drive. I wonder if one is better than the other depending on when you go. Will have to experiment.
