  1. This is something else... This subforum definitely has a problem when the mods outright ban relevant discussions on topics that affect everyone simply because they are clutching their pearls and power-tripping. I hope the posters here wake up and demand a change. Good luck to you guys, but this is what a culture of reporting posts and demanding mod action every few minutes gets you...
  2. Nah, we are done. You just couldn't help yourself, trash.
  3. Mappy, you are being pretty dishonest here. You know what you did. You can live with knowing you have zero issue using people's personal information that you sleuthed out to win Internet fights. If that's who you want to be, that's your call.
  4. Make sure she never finds out anything about your kids she can use against you. Trust me on this one.
  5. I didn't get personal with your parenting but you decided to and keep doing it... OK. Is there a reason anyone should take you seriously as the "authority" here? Like I said, don't let mappy find out anything personal about you or she will make it public and use it to bash you over the head. That's your warning!
  6. His point was that we legally can't. Hogan says you can't have play dates. Kids can't even leave the house unless deemed "essential."
  7. Yes, it must be nice to be so completely insulated from the effects of the lockdowns that you hope they are stretched out as long as possible to make a random guy on the Internet uncomfortable. Nice post!
  8. This is starting to shift. Hospitals are now strongly encouraging people to seek regular medical care. There has been a spike in people getting seriously sick or dying because they were too scared to go to the hospital or doctor. The media fear mongering of course had unforeseen impacts. Dying from a heart attack is not really "better" than dying from COVID-19... https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-usa-hospitals-idUSKBN22E0EP Our family doctors and dentist have been encouraging us to keep appointments.
  9. Apparently only the government can tell some people what they can and can't do with their kids.
  10. Hey, you can do what you'd like with your kid. I'd rather not know about it.
  11. People will be afraid of a rushed vaccine that we were told scientists "raced" to create and produce. But enough folks will line up for it that we will quickly see if it is effective and/or dangerous.
  12. You seem to have taken my generic post personally. That's on you, not me. I am allowed to have the opinion that not allowing your kids outside for 6 weeks over fear of COVID-19 is pretty bad. I feel like most sane parents would agree.
  13. I agree, that's what I meant by freedom to operate. Take off the training wheels. But a restaurant being open in GA might lead to more nursing home deaths, I guess.
  14. If you are letting your kids play outside, then we are on the same page.
  15. I'm not saying you are doing anything wrong (your personal experience doesn't matter to me and please don't tell me about it), but keeping your kids locked up for 6 weeks out of fear is pretty bad, IMO. I'm sure many parents cringe at the sight of my kids playing in the park without masks on. Some may even consider calling the cops.
  16. The point is to provide the freedom for them to operate. If the market for their business is lost, that's a different story and there is nothing any of us can do about it. There is definitely a subset of people who can't wait to flock to forums like this one to say "I told you so" if deaths in opened states suddenly spike. Zero doubt about it. Lockdowns have become a religious cause for some, and also a means to effect the social change they desire (universal health care, universal basic income, mass teleworking, etc.).
  17. OK, we gonna go there?
  18. The biggest impacts on kids are the lack of social interaction and the lost school time, not to mention the fear, uncertainty, etc. The virus is not a threat to them at all. I have heard horror stories of scared parents keeping their kids locked at home for 6 weeks straight already. That's borderline abusive. At least them go play in the neighborhood or at the park.
  19. It's why I have been so critical of the daily case numbers all along. They are not realistic at all under this kind of setup where getting a test is so hard. You have to be very sick or work in a high-risk environment (my employee's wife works in a nursing home).
  20. I figured it was OK and should just join the club. I will stay away from racist posts, though. Only forky can get away with that because "he's just joking."
  21. Yes, Hogan needs to fix that. I have an employee whose wife has COVID and he can't even get a test from his doctor because he has no symptoms. His wife is fine, she has mild loss of taste but nothing else. I thought Hogan had fixed that long ago but I guess not.
  22. Unscientific, stupid fear porn:
  23. I'm just saying we may have the capacity now in terms of numbers of tests, but people just aren't getting the tests because they are all still optional. I have read all over the place that the tests sites set up in areas just as CVS parking lots are not busy at all. I'm sure some are in some places.
  24. I have heard of many people taking on a bunch of "gig" jobs like delivering groceries, stocking shelves, etc. to piece together a living. Unfortunately, unemployment stats are never good at capturing those who technically have a job, but are basically one tiny step above homelessness.
  25. They just received stimulus checks and have had to make only one mortgage payment. Now the support for lockdowns will be dropping as people exhaust their savings accounts and the gubmint cheese cuts off.
