I do have plans for a cam out front with a snow depth marker. You wouldn’t want to see the depth on the side facing the mountains. The winds have scoured that out badly.
Looks like turnout will be really good this cycle (which makes sense). It’ll be interesting to see the splits with who voted early, by mail, and on Election Day. A lot of pundits trying to find meaning in that data but I’m not so sure.
Looks like last night was enough to fill in all footprints and tire tracks at least. Totally fresh coat of white out there.
Randolph observer guy reports 4.1” storm total for the entire event. Seems about right here.
Still light snow here, 24 degrees. I am very satisfied with this event.
22 degrees with mod to heavy snow is really rare in my part of MD. Decades can pass between instances of this happening. Just another day up here I guess.
We had one last little burst and now things have tapered off to flurries and blowing snow.
I can even see some glimpses of the peaks of Madison and Adams.
Awaiting round 2!
I measured in a bunch of different spots. Most readings between 1.5 and 2. Probably somewhere in that range just with the ruler check. It feels like a lot more because it is laying everywhere and drifting. I am not used to an inch or two of snow covering so well. Usually in MD we waste a couple inches on a slush “base” before the snow really piles up. I drove around the corner to where the observer lives. Didn’t look any different there (as expected given it’s well below freezing). I am interested in what he reports with more diligent measuring avoiding compaction. My snow reports are of course mostly just a guess. I am not scientific about it at all.
