  1. Real crappy week setting up weather-wise. A taste of deep winter in MD for you guys.
  2. I am really hoping for a monster bombing storm blowing up in the Gulf of Maine while my temps are in the low 20s. Is that so much to ask for? Enough of this weak-ass sheared crap we keep getting
  3. It really is a dark winter coming. Bad time of year to have lockdowns returning with the weather and shortened daylight time. I feel for people trapped in small apartments during this.
  4. Yes, definitely some reverse psychology practitioners here.
  5. If a moose wanted to lick my car that badly, it’s not clear how I would prevent or stop that.
  6. Yeah, that explains some things. I'm sure you have seen the worst of COVID and then some.
  7. Yikes, well sounds like you have been in a bit of an epicenter for COVID. Every single person I know who has gotten the virus had the smell/taste thing and some fatigue, that was it. We all have had different experiences. Based on mine, your infection sounds like it was really nasty. Serious breathing issues is a major complication. We did have one distant relation who was very, very ill with heart failure and cancer die with COVID as a complication, but he was in really bad shape already.
  8. This sounds like a pretty severe case to me. Most infections are much milder than this.
  9. Thank you for acknowledging the retail workers. All the talk about nurses, doctors, and teachers but no one ever considers the retail workers who have been on the job non-stop for months and exposed to thousands of people. They can’t telework like many teachers are doing now. Yet I never hear any of them complain or demand shutdowns...
  10. Sounds pretty sweet. I doubt anyone will hassle you there. It's not like you are going to VT after all. LOL
  11. Loss of taste and smell seems like the most common symptom for the typical low-grade infections most people get. Followed by fatigue. Every single person I know who has COVID has the loss of taste and smell symptom first. I assume there is some other viral mechanism at work causing this because it isn't always accompanied by the congestion and stuffy nose that can cause similar symptoms with a cold. The people I have spoken to about this said they just realized suddenly they couldn't smell or taste anything even with a clear nose and chest.
  12. Crazy how steady the temp has been here today. Still 54.
  13. I'll take my chances with that Miller B at my location...
  14. Been stuck at 54 since noon. Hasn’t budged at all.
  15. It's always safest to troll against a good winter. If you are right, you get to crow and pretend you know something. If you are wrong, everyone is too happy with the snow to bother remembering your dumb posts.
  16. CMC gives us a nice little snowstorm right before Thanksgiving, too bad it’s the CMC. GFS is a strung out mess at the same time.
  17. I don't expect the schools to be handled rationally by this country during this pandemic. That's why we chose to homeschool. In-person school is like jail for kids, and remote learning is basically just homeschooling with an overseer watching you on Zoom.
  18. Who has more COVID exposure: teachers or TSA airport screeners? Protecting teachers by closing down schools (even it screws the children) seems to enjoy more support than does the idea of shutting down the airports to protect the TSA screeners. Interesting.
  19. From here you can get his daily reports. He leaves some interesting thoughts on past storms, and also general environmental happenings such as the sap runs and leaf changes. Also, he sometimes provides some local record tidbits for windchills, wind speed, daily snowfall, etc. I like to look at past reports for upcoming periods. Gives you an idea of what to expect in the upcoming few weeks based on what he has seen over the past decade+. He is close to me. It's just a quick walk through another lot to his place so I defer to his obs on all events because I am basically a rodeo clown when it comes to obs. There is also a new observer between Alex and me. He seems to leave some comments sometimes. Some of his snowfall measurements have me scratching my head a bit. Will watch this one all winter to see if it levels out.
  20. I feel like he'd be able to be giving a dry, straightforward scientific lecture at a university and while everyone is diligently taking notes he slowly weaves in some zany theories and thoughts that seem sort of related to the topic but later when you check your notes you are just befuddled.
  21. LOL I really like this post, but I think it was wise to respond to my post in this thread.
