  1. For a while, the models showed that sitting over my house. I just received some scraps in the end.
  2. Decent little burst here now, and some solid light snow all day. It was awesome with a pack. Makes it feel like a lot more snow fell (as you noted). Footprints and walkways all get that "filled in" look again too.
  3. I think I am finally starting to understand the Gospel of Bread 'n Butter that J. Spin has been preaching. If I can get 10-12" on the ground as a solid pack, these small refreshers of 0.5 to 2" every other day can sustain the good times for a long while, without needing to gamble on the "epic pattern" nonsense and fickle coastals. I get it now. Just need to get a little more pack and lock this in and keep the cutters away.
  4. Snowed here all day. Very wintry out on the slopes at Cannon too.
  5. LOL yeah, to put it mildly. The grinch storm on Christmas felt more like the winter vibe in MD. I am happy I have snow OTG here. Makes this boring period not too bad. I agree it is also good weather for skiing (if not exactly snowmaking).
  6. I wish it was super-cold. The ponds and lakes around here need to be frozen solid at least if we aren't getting any snow.
  7. Whole lot of nothing on the models through mid-month at least. No bread or butter to be found anywhere.
  8. Cannon was nice today. A really impressive amount of terrain open given all the factors discussed in this thread. I can't comment on how the crowds have been this season as we almost exclusively ski midweek. We had parts of the mountain mostly to ourselves today.
  9. This is really in-depth info, and I appreciate you posting it. I am not trying to call into question the personal work ethic of the snow-makers and groomers, though. LOL I was just talking about the accountants, lawyers, and, in some cases, the shareholders who make decisions at a high level about the investment of dollars. I don't run a ski resort, so I am just making guesses, but from a business perspective it makes perfect sense to me that a smallish place like Wildcat would not want to invest a lot of time and money into such an uncertain season. Rather, they will wait to see what Mother Nature and the governors do. Just my take on it. I'm sure weather has played a role.
  10. From a business perspective, not expending a ton of money in an uncertain season (for numerous reasons, not just the weather), makes perfect sense. I know you are coming at this as an employee of a ski place and will defend their efforts. That's fine. But someone above in the food chain there had to make a call about how much effort and money to dump into this ski season, and it doesn't seem at all outlandish that they decided to play it safe and limited. It seems pretty sensible, actually.
  11. And no rainy super cutters on the horizon, thank goodness.
  12. A lot of places don't seem to be trying particularly hard to get more terrain open. I assume they are playing it safe considering they could be shut down or severely restricted at a moment's notice, rendering the investment in snowmaking and staffing moot. It also doesn't help that the weather has sucked, of course.
  13. Little fluff dusting here. It was more than enough to fully cover the cleared driveway.
  14. Basically NH as primary at this point. but I have things I need to do in MD from time to time.
  15. I’ll be back in MD from the 9th to the 17th. Pencil that period in for something good.
  16. I can assure you they are just as bad. Every single weenie here way overestimates their climo and then melts down when reality sets in. Or, they play the reverse psychology negative weenie routine which is silly and annoying in its own way.
  17. Looks like a very quiet weather week. At least I have snow cover again.
  18. Freaking classic for the UKMET. Like I said earlier, watch out Portugal! Second best model is coming!
  19. Is the worm gonna turn? Do I need to leave for a while? LOL
