How often do you guys wax and sharpen your skis? I never used to ski more than a couple times a year so this never seemed like an issue. The beginning of season major tune up seemed fine. Now we ski five days a week. As always, the Internet has many opinions but some people take things like this overboard so what is the “normal” or average routine like? I have six pairs of skis to deal with so hoping to get by with not having to basically open my own tuning shop.
I am not noticing any issues with my skis. So maybe not even an issue?
Definitely been a ground zero screw zone in your backyard this winter.
Didn't even cash in on that mid-December weenie band event that seemed to hit some of the CNE zones that have been otherwise kinda porked.
Worm may not be able to turn if he's dead at this point. LOL
Kind of a weird one, but not complaining about hours of heavy snow and 13" new inches.
My neighbor is up to 103.8" on the season. A little ahead of average pace at this point, actually. This winter really turned around post-Grinch and especially after the mid-month storm.
I always assumed some of the real electric brain types here "cheated" a little with a detailed snow diary they could reference when thinking back about a storm, but even that is a very impressive thing to maintain over the years.
But some of you I think just have this stuff seared into long-term storage.
The memory for events is impressive. And not just raw totals, but specific details about jackpots, duration, forecasts prior to the storm itself.
I just can't keep that kind of detail in my head when it comes to snow.
The way these guys remember minor snowstorms is sort of scary sometimes.
Probably the same kinda mental process by how serial killers remember small details about their victims 30-40 years later during prison interviews? LOL
I think for all of us to get nailed in one storm we would need a more OTS track that then hooks back into the GOM? Seems like a taller order. Like the semi-mythical storm that nails Norfolk, Richmond, Baltimore, and Philly in one shot
Some folks in SNE were totally porked by this storm. I can totally understand the desire to get back on the horse and chase the next one in that case. Like getting a rebound GF after a bad breakup. LOL
This storm was a little strange, though. No upslope afterwards and almost zero wind here. It was ripping snow yesterday and dead calm. Winds never even came in after the storm passed.
12.9” on 1.54” liquid according to CoCoRaHS. Not entirely what I expected. Guess snow growth/flake size was terrible for a while. Figured I’d at least be at 10:1. Liquid over performed as expected, however.
Would be a nice moderate storm up the entire EC. Looks fine at this range. The models like to lose storms around this time anyway.
I would just be a little suspicious because when was the last time we had a 5-10" generally even snowfall from DC to BOS? More rare than a 2-footer these days I think.
The GEFS low tracks definitely jumped well NW of 18z. I would say we should see the GFS adjust soon, but it's the GFS so it will remain stubbornly wrong until much closer in.
Weather is not a team sport, and we all secretly wish for our backyards to get nailed, no matter what that means for anyone else. Some of us are just more honest about all this than others.
Every time I look at the models I am looking for the solution that crushes my house the most. I barely pay attention outside of that. Not sorry. LOL
So good to learn when young. They are like Gumby. Super wipeout and they just bounce right back up, plastered in snow and grinning. LOL
Falling at speed for me would bring flashes of hospital bills and possibly a wheelchair. Just part of being older and cautious. haha
Yup, it's great. My 6 year old girl is crazy. When we are on the lift she is staring into the woods and searching for bumps. She's addicted to that stuff. Already bored of groomers with her old man. My knees have been achy lately. LOL
She's the one off on the ungroomed side of the trail or skiing the lift lines.
She loves when she sees some dude cut over on a trail and disappear down a little unmarked chute into the trees. We are slowly working into that stuff. She has been skiing for only two months. It's nuts. She'll probably just follow one of those guys one afternoon, and I will need to chase her down with my two older boys.
The EPS mean is basically OTS, but I guess it's being skewed by that cluster way to the right. I would prefer a tucked look myself, but I get that most posters here apparently live right on the water near a marina and need the low way off the coast so they catch the northern edge of the deform band... LOL
